Description
Dora-med III, also called Dora-meddo Sansei, is a robotic cat operating as an oracle for Saudi Prince Arashin at a royal palace in Baghdad, Iraq. He belongs to The Doraemons, a group of seven robotic cats who graduated together from the Robot School and keep in touch using the Bestfriend Telecard system. His appearance features pink fur, a white facial area, a red nose, and a thin horizontal mustache with upturned ends. He is clad in distinctive Arabian attire: a green turban with yellow stripes and a yellow feather, a blue collar with a bell, a green bisht robe boasting red and yellow cuffs and a placket with triangular patterns, black sirwal trousers, and black Arabian shoes. A tail resembling a string tipped with a red orb completes his form.
He wields magic deeply rooted in Middle Eastern folklore traditions. His tools include a magic carpet for flight and a magic lamp functioning as his variant of the fourth-dimensional pocket, though he retains a standard fourth-dimensional pocket on his abdomen as backup. His magical abilities encompass weather manipulation, freezing objects or enemies, and predicting future events through tarot card readings. Anger provokes a dramatic physical transformation, causing him to multiply in size into a towering giant. This state lasts until he calms or contacts water, triggering immediate reversion to normal size. Despite residing in a desert, he battles severe aquaphobia (fear of water), compelling him to consume freeze-dried dorayaki. He harbors an ambition to conquer this phobia to build a water-themed amusement park called "Water Land" for desert inhabitants. He also exhibits a strong aversion to tornados.
His personality is marked by a short temper, leading to frequent anger and subsequent gigantism. He demonstrates personal growth through evolving relationships, initially distrusting Dorapin whom he perceived as a thief. Witnessing Dorapin protect his lover, Mimimi, shifted his perspective to admiration and eventual trust. He shares a familial bond with a twin brother named Sindora-bad. Across various media appearances, like the film "Dorami & Doraemons: Space Land's Critical Event," his role consistently leverages his magical skills and unique transformation ability to aid group endeavors alongside fellow Doraemons.
Trivia notes include variant names "Dora Metsudo" in Malaysian manga and "Doramed Generasi Ke 3" in Indonesia. He is recognized as one of the earliest major Muslim characters in anime. His fear of water contrasts with the typical cultural significance of rain in desert societies.
