Description
Talan is documented as a high-ranking Gamilon officer serving Leader Desslok across multiple installments of the original continuity. Originating from Clan Talan nobility, he was born circa AD 2100 as Sarjant Talan, Mastersson of the clan. He forged a childhood friendship with Desslar IV, the Gamilon crown prince who later became Desslok. Following the AD 2150 imposition of a religious dictatorship by the High Priests, which abolished clans and executed nobles, Talan accompanied Desslok into the military. Both officers gained their commissions in AD 2151, serving under General Dommel Lysis until Desslok revealed his royal identity to Lysis in AD 2185. Talan then assisted Desslok in assembling Royalist sympathizers for the AD 2191 coup against the High Priests, restoring Desslok as Leader of Gamilon.
As Desslok's defense minister and adjutant, Talan displayed unwavering loyalty and level-headed judgment. He introduced tactical innovations like Dessler Mines during the Yamato's 2199 voyage to Iscandar. During critical battles, he successfully persuaded Desslok to abandon his flagship when defeat loomed. Talan also demonstrated exceptional piloting skills, notably rescuing Desslok from pursuing White Comet Empire forces after their temporary alliance with Emperor Zwordar collapsed.
When the Gamilon Empire aligned with the White Comet Empire under Prince Zordar, Talan continued serving Desslok. After Zordar falsely accused Desslok of treachery due to Sabera's scheming, Talan piloted an Eater II fighter to facilitate their escape from the Comet Empire. This escape allowed Desslok to independently pursue his campaign against the Yamato while navigating the larger conflict.
Following the dissolution of the Gamilon Empire and its reformation into the Galman Empire, Talan remained a key aide to Desslok. By the third season during the war between Galman and the Bolar Federation, he held the rank of adjutant under Emperor Desslok and was alternatively identified as Sgt. Masterson in Galman service records. Talan's son, also named Masterson, is acknowledged in expanded lore.
