Description
Shiro Amakusa Tokisada, a historical figure fictionalized in the anime *Ninja Resurrection* (*Makai Tensho*), led the Christian Shimabara Rebellion against the Tokugawa shogunate during the Edo period. His forces were defeated, and he was executed. Before death, he renounced his Christian faith, triggering his transformation into a demonic entity.

In his youth, he survived an anti-Christian soldier's bullet when his crucifix deflected it, leading villagers to hail him as a messianic figure. Commanding the defense of Hara Castle during the rebellion, he initially advocated mercy toward enemies. His lieutenant, Mori Soiken, manipulated him by murdering two children. Witnessing this atrocity, Amakusa embraced his rage, transformed into a demon, and summoned a black dragon against the swordsman Yagyu Jubei. Jubei defeated him, leaving him mortally wounded in a burning chapel.

Dying and abandoned by his faith, he succumbed to Soiken's influence. Through the Makai Tensho ritual involving Soiken's daughter Ocho, he was resurrected as a vessel of Satan. Years later, he returned fully demonic, commanding resurrected warriors Inshun Hozoin, Mataemon Araki, and Botaro Tamiya. He orchestrated massacres, starting with a festival attack, to achieve apocalyptic vengeance against Japan and the Tokugawa regime. His resurrection occurred under a blood moon symbolizing his transition into a harbinger of destruction.

His background integrates his historical role as a Christian rebel leader with supernatural elements, depicting a fall from idealism into nihilistic vengeance marked by his rejection of divine salvation and embrace of demonic power.
