Description
Venus commands the divine wind spirit West Wind, also known as Zephyrus, to transport Unico to the Hill of Oblivion after growing jealous of the unicorn's ability to spread happiness among mortals. Disobeying the order to abandon Unico permanently due to pity, West Wind secretly relocates Unico across various time periods and locations instead. Each relocation occurs when Venus or other gods discover Unico, forcing West Wind to intervene to protect him from divine retribution by spiriting him away abruptly, often preventing farewells to friends. West Wind erases Unico's memories during each relocation to shield him from the pain of loss and partially comply with Venus's punishment of oblivion, resetting his awareness of past friendships and experiences. West Wind's role evolves into that of a clandestine guardian operating under constant threat. Venus eventually deploys the Night Wind to capture Unico upon learning of the disobedience, escalating the conflict. In "Unico: Short Story," West Wind deposits Unico in a polluted city where he encounters a sick girl named Chiko, continuing the cycle. West Wind's dialogue includes the statement "beauty means brutalness," reflecting an understanding of Venus's cruel nature and highlighting West Wind's compassionate divergence. Across all media, West Wind maintains this duality of enforcing divine will while subverting it to safeguard Unico.
