Though victorious, Kaosu failed to fully eradicate Arago, compelling him to shatter the demon’s armor into nine sets. These were infused with virtues to counter residual evil and entrusted to warriors capable of wielding them wisely.

The armors divided into two factions: five embodying Confucian virtues for protagonists and four aligned with samurai virtues for antagonists. This split originated from Kaosu’s conviction that moral intent dictated their application, as the samurai virtues’ focus on loyalty and duty made them prone to corruption.
