Description
Gonta, a youthful Fox God serving under Inari, is entrusted with safeguarding his town’s prosperity and wealth. Sporting green hair, piercing purple eyes, animal ears, and a bushy fox tail, his childlike charm contrasts his divine duties. He nurtures an unyielding crush on Yuzu, a human antique shop owner, daydreaming relentlessly about her and orchestrating lavish displays of devotion that spiral into chaos—foiled either by external mishaps or his own flustered incoherence.

His dynamic with Mayu, a Cat God living alongside Yuzu, teems with petty rivalry and envy, fueled by her bond with Yuzu and his conviction that she thwarts his romantic ambitions. Their squabbles erupt into comedic confrontations, exposing his stubbornness and knack for bungling his own schemes.

Tied to Shizuha, his gambling-deity mother, Gonta faces her meddling—like her outmaneuvering him in a video game bet to seize his belongings, derailing his attempts to woo Yuzu. During a beach trip meant to dazzle her in a bikini, he recklessly faces off against a typhoon deity menacing the event, blending bravery with impulsivity.

A running joke involves phrases like "fell out" triggering exaggerated flustered reactions, a callback to past blunders. Though primarily a comedic figure, he joins communal divine efforts—like uniting gods to thwart a poverty deity—highlighting his place in the town’s spiritual network.

While his unrequited pining and rivalry drive most antics, fleeting sincerity surfaces during town crises, hinting at deeper dedication beneath his blunders. Yet, his growth remains subtle, anchoring him as a catalyst for humor and whimsical strife.
