TV-Series
Description
Mikoto Ishino, a fifth-grade student, serves as one of the primary drivers for the Mobile Rescue Police. She shares piloting duties for Drive Head 03 White Hope with her twin brother Jin Ishino; both were chosen for their pure hearts and compatibility. Her parents, doctors working overseas, inspired Mikoto's drive to help others through rescue work. She exhibits strong mathematical abilities, performing complex calculations swiftly to aid missions. Mikoto's personality is outgoing and assertive, often speaking bluntly yet without malice. She enjoys cooking, fashion, shopping, and particularly pancakes with butter and honey. She admires the idol Sala Manda and becomes thrilled discovering their mutual appreciation for the Drive Head team.
Initially, Mikoto and Jin pilot the original White Hope model, switching control of their Vipers to combine with the main frame. Early on, she displays confidence in Synchro Fusion techniques, citing a 90% success rate. A virtual reality horror game featuring a chainsaw-wielding clown frightens her. Later, confronting a construction crane disaster caused by a Black Chip, she conquers this fear. Performing a Synchro Fusion with the Rescue Bull Chainsaw to form White Hope Heavy Blade Stronger, she stops the crane and declares chainsaws no longer scare her. Her medical knowledge proves useful in minor emergencies, like treating Gou Kurumada's injury after a fall.
When White Hope upgrades to the Mk-II White Crystal Hope, a two-seater with distinct driving and Cyber Eye Unit roles, Mikoto and Jin compete for the driver's seat, though Jin initially takes it. Mikoto operates the Cyber Eye Unit for search and rescue, preferring this role due to her enjoyment of uncovering secrets. During a joint mission with the Mobile Assault Police, her Cyber Eye Unit locates a capsized ship tied to illegal Black Chip sales. She later uses it to help Sala Manda retrieve a lost mask before a concert, deepening her admiration upon realizing they met in person.
In the web series, following incidents involving a stolen stealth fighter attacking the team and subsequent equipment upgrades, Mikoto receives her own Drive Head, the White Pearl Hope. She actively participates in missions with this unit, executing Synchro Fusions like White Pearl Hope Armored Emperor and Armored Thruster Emperor. During Mk-III upgrade discussions, she suggests painting her Drive Head pink, reflecting her personal style.
In the movie, Mikoto confronts Terra, an android manifestation of the Evil AI that hijacks the Mobile Rescue Police base. She joins the collective effort to stop Terra's giant form from causing global destruction, applying her skills when Drive Heads initially become inoperable due to Terra's energy interference.
Her relationships include a close, occasionally competitive bond with Jin, whom she teases yet supports. She befriends fellow drivers Gou Kurumada and Taiga Yagura, and maintains a school friendship with classmate Kasumi Haruno, often seen together outside missions.
