Description
Kanata Ozora, a sixth-grade student at Aibo Academy, earned the title "No-Damage Fighter" by winning every Buddyfight without losing a lifepoint. This perfection bred isolation and dissatisfaction, leading him to quit due to a lack of worthy opponents. His appearance features turquoise hair with white tips and dark blue eyes, and during matches, he dons a light blue soccer jersey with white shorts. Activating his impact abilities causes crystals to envelop his legs and feet while revealing a snowflake birthmark on his left cheek.
His buddy is the Star Dragon World dragon, Quintessence Crystal Dragon Athora. Kanata’s deck centers on Prism Dragons, deploying cards like *Brush Upper* and *White Crystal Dragon, Rizzling* to expand his hand and gauge. Athora’s original protective abilities prevented all damage to Kanata, enabling strategies such as finishing opponents during their turn with impacts like *Dragon’s Fielder*. Vulnerability to multiple attacks and Shadow Dive cards drove Athora’s evolution into *Heavenly Crystal Dragon, Aldo Athora*, whose Overturn ability redirects all attacks to itself. Aldo Athora becomes immortal for the turn and deals 1 damage per received attack. The deck later incorporated *Asterism* to counter instant-win effects and *Spinel Crystal Dragon, Spirytas* for defensive summons when monsters are destroyed.
Kanata returned to Buddyfighting when Tasuku Ryuenji recruited him as Star Dragon World’s representative for the World Buddy Masters tournament. After initial refusal, he accepted following Gao Mikado’s penalty shootout victory and Kanata’s no-damage win against Tasuku. He maintained his no-damage streak against opponents including Togari Togeyama, Shosetsu Kirisame, Dai Kaido, and Gaito Kurouzu. In the finals against Gao, Athora’s destruction inflicted Kanata’s first-ever damage, ending his streak. He embraced this loss as a new beginning.
Subsequent events saw Kanata refuse an offer from Wisdom but lose to him in a Buddyfight, fueling his determination to improve. A rivalry with Sword Arts fighter Keisetsu defined a key subplot. After defeating Keisetsu without damage in a past shop tournament, Keisetsu quit Buddyfighting, prompting Kanata to quit too. A rematch saw Kanata lose again, but he regained confidence with support from Gao and friends. In their final rematch, he deployed his new impact, *Direct Dynamic Diamond Overhead!!*, defeating Keisetsu and symbolizing his emotional growth and renewed commitment.
His deck evolved into *Dragon Sentinels*, focusing on gauge and hand accumulation to synergize with Aldo Athora’s Overturn and *Direct Dynamic Diamond Overhead!!*, which counters attacks while dealing decisive damage. This strategy secured victories against Sakate Onigashira and Gao in later encounters. Losses to Gao and Wisdom reflected his ongoing evolution from a solitary perfectionist to a fighter who values challenges and relationships.
