Description
Sakurako Ōmuro, a first-year student at Nanamori Middle School, stands 153 cm tall with a petite build, light brown or blonde wavy hair, and brown eyes. She typically wears two hair clips—described variably as red and black or red and blue—on the left side of her head. Her features include a noticeable fang and an "almost absent bust," a physical trait causing her sensitivity, especially around Himawari Furutani.
Cheerful, energetic, and mischievous, Sakurako often acts impulsively. Academically, she struggles with subjects like kanji and multiplication tables, resulting in poor grades, and possesses notably weak short-term memory. Conversely, she displays athletic prowess with quick reflexes and physical strength. A self-acknowledged glutton, she favors Isobe fries, seaweed tempura, Hanako's curry, and Himawari's cookies, but dislikes carrots.
As the middle child in the Ōmuro family, she resides between academically diligent older sister Nadeshiko and younger sister Hanako. Her sisters frequently scold her for laziness and lack of common sense, leading to domestic teasing and conflicts over food or responsibilities. Despite outward friction, deep bonds exist: Sakurako cooks porridge for a sick Hanako, wins cow-themed pajamas, and expresses gratitude through group hugs. Hanako reciprocates by making curry and pancakes for her.
At school, Sakurako serves on the Student Council, vying for vice-president alongside childhood friend and neighbor Himawari Furutani. Their relationship involves constant bickering and rivalry over appearance and academics, yet reflects deep, unspoken reliance. Sakurako joined solely because Himawari did. Their history includes a childhood make-believe wedding and moments of mutual care—Sakurako secretly cherishing Himawari's biscuits or lending gym clothes, alongside episodes of physical affection like blushing during hugs.
She interacts comically and supportively with others: admiring Kyōko Toshinō for shared personality traits (though less academically successful), respecting Akari Akaza's selflessness, playfully engaging with Chinatsu Yoshikawa (who permits hair-touching), and sharing a moment feeding curry to Ayano Sugiura. Her gullibility surfaces occasionally.
In the Ōmuro-ke spin-off, Sakurako demonstrates growth from perceived irresponsibility to empathy. When Hanako falls ill, Sakurako urgently seeks a congee recipe from Himawari and diligently prepares it. Similarly, after Hanako feels excluded from a sisters' pancake meal, she later makes amends by cooking for Sakurako, highlighting latent considerateness and mutual affection.
Trivia notes include her fear of cockroaches (not snakes), low alcohol tolerance, occasional use of boyish language, and a memory technique for her surname's kanji: "tree—scratchy—woman." She owns chicken-themed pajamas and mimics a "hoo-hoo" sound instead of a cluck.
