Description
Brau Balm is a character from the anime Battle Spirits Sword Eyes, known as the blue Sword Eyes of Darkness. He is a muscular man with a messy black hairstyle and a prominent scar on his face. His typical attire consists of a brown vest with no shirt underneath, brown pants accented with blue armor, and a flowing white cape.

Brau is characterized by a serious, cold, and stern demeanor. He holds a deep obsession with obtaining revenge against the character Bringer and demonstrates an extremely devoted, almost unwavering loyalty to the king, Yaiba. Intolerant of failure, he holds himself to a high standard of duty and expects the same from others.

Born into a family that traditionally served in Atlantia's royal imperial guard, Brau was once a soldier in the old Atlantian army. Fourteen years before the main story, he attempted to chase down Bringer when the droid fled the kingdom with the infant Tsurugi. Brau failed to stop them, and it was during this incident that he received the scar on his face, an event that also cost him his position in the guard and ignited his quest for revenge. He later joined the Sword Eyes of Darkness under Yaiba.

His primary motivation throughout much of the narrative is achieving revenge against Bringer. Brau finally gets his chance to battle Bringer after the latter is captured, emerging victorious and considering his life's mission complete. Following this, his focus shifts entirely to serving Yaiba. When Tsurugi arrives to rescue Bringer, Brau battles him but loses. Feeling that this defeat has shamed his master, Brau requests punishment and even expects to be executed by Yaiba. He is spared only due to the intervention of Garudos.

Desperate to prove his loyalty, Brau volunteers to fight Haqua when she challenges the king. During the battle, Haqua tries to convince him that such blind loyalty will only close off his world, but Brau refuses to listen and is ultimately defeated. He later battles Amarello when she attempts to take Grenada away from the west villa. In this fight, Amarello notes that she and Brau are similar, as her loyalty to Grenada mirrors his devotion to Yaiba. Brau loses this battle, which results in Grenada gaining freedom.

In the ritual to summon the Sword of Judgment, Brau battles against Sora. During the climax of the larger conflict, while Tsurugi faces Garudos, Brau aids his allies by diverting Stinger forces away from evacuation arks. In the epilogue, he is seen training with members of the Red Army, having maintained his close allegiance to Yaiba.

In battle, Brau is a user of a blue deck, typically focusing on spirits with rush strategies. His key cards include the powerful X-Rares The AbyssalGod Dist-Ruction and his Sword Brave, The AbyssGiantSword Abyss-Apocalypse.
