Description
Chizuru Ikeda is a supporting character and the younger twin sister of Chitose Ikeda, both of whom are 14-year-old second-year middle school students. While she shares a nearly identical physical appearance with her sister, featuring wavy neck-length white hair, Chizuru is distinguished by her sharp green eyes, which contrast with Chitose's softer blue ones. Her birthday is March 10, and she stands 155 cm tall with O blood type. Originally, both sisters spoke in the Kansai dialect, but Chizuru switched to standard Japanese after the family moved, though her original accent can occasionally resurface.
In terms of personality, Chizuru is initially presented as cold, taciturn, and distant, which is the direct opposite of Chitose's warm and cuddly nature. This reserved demeanor often makes other people feel intimidated and uneasy around her, resulting in her having very few friends. At school, she rarely smiles and comes across as serious or stern. However, this behavior changes drastically when she is at home, where she is described as a kind and affectionate younger sister who enjoys everyday activities with her twin, such as bathing together, having Chitose blow-dry her hair, and sharing a bed.
The most prominent trait Chizuru shares with her sister is an intense ability to fantasize about yuri relationships, which activates when she removes her glasses. While Chitose tends to focus on the pairing of Ayano Sugiura and Kyoko Toshino, Chizuru's specific obsession is the pairing of her sister, Chitose, with Ayano Sugiura. She views Kyoko as a barrier to her ideal fantasy and therefore holds a strong dislike for her. Another key difference in their fantasy response is that while Chitose suffers from nosebleeds, Chizuru reacts by drooling uncontrollably.
Her role in the story often revolves around her relationships, particularly with her sister. The bond with Chitose is the most important aspect of her life, and she is extremely protective of her sister's happiness. Her antagonistic relationship with Kyoko is also a recurring element; Kyoko's teasing and perceived interference with Chitose and Ayano's dynamic are a constant source of frustration for Chizuru, who has sometimes reacted with physical retaliation.
A notable development in Chizuru's character occurs later in the series. After meeting a girl named Kaede Furutani, who remarked that her smile was beautiful, Chizuru made a promise to try and smile more often. This marks a turning point where her personality progressively softens, and she makes a conscious effort to be more open and approachable. She actively seeks advice on how to make friends, even going so far as to ask Kyoko for help, as Kyoko has a talent for socializing. Following Kyoko's advice to be her authentic self, Chizuru begins to bond with classmates, including Takane Dezaki and Haruka Koyama, notably while working together during a physical education class. This effort leads to her first meaningful friendships at school. While her animosity towards Kyoko lessens over time, transitioning into a more tolerant, if cautious, acceptance, Chizuru's primary ability remains her powerful yuri imagination, a defining quirk she never loses.
