Description
Daniel "Dan" Kuso serves as the main protagonist throughout the *Bakugan Battle Brawlers* anime series and its sequels. In *Gundalian Invaders*, the 16-year-old Dan moves to Bayview due to his father's work, becoming Julie Makimoto's neighbor. His popularity in Bayview arises from his past victories over threats like Naga and King Zenoheld. Dan maintains a close bond with his parents; his mother practices yoga extensively, while his father shares Dan's impulsive personality and possesses a notable obsession with pudding.

His appearance in *Gundalian Invaders* features a white-collared red jacket with sleeves rolled up his forearms, dark trousers with red-outlined pockets tucked into blue-and-black sneakers, and elliptical goggles. As a Neathian Castle Knight, he dons a high-collared, form-fitting combat suit resembling stormtrooper armor, trimmed in red and gold with blue markings, reverting to his standard outfit after Neathia's liberation.

Personality-wise, Dan is energetic, optimistic, and fiercely loyal to his Bakugan partner Drago, yet retains tendencies toward impulsiveness and overconfidence. He demonstrates greater maturity than in earlier seasons, such as leading reconstruction efforts after battles without complaint. His strategic approach to brawling evolved significantly following early losses; he now balances raw power with tactical planning, a development traceable to his first-season defeat by Ryo. Dan exhibits strong moral principles, frequently offering redemption to former adversaries like Spectra Phantom and Ren Krawler, though he can display hypocrisy—chastising allies for actions he himself commits.

Drago remains Dan's primary partner Bakugan, undergoing multiple evolutions during *Gundalian Invaders*: from Pyrus Helix Dragonoid to Pyrus Lumino Dragonoid (after absorbing energy from Neo Ziperator), then to Pyrus Blitz Dragonoid (post-victory over Dragonoid Colossus), and finally Pyrus Titanium Dragonoid (upon defeating Phantom Dharak and receiving Code Eve's power). Dan temporarily partners with Pyrus Dragonoid Colossus, which perishes in battle. His arsenal expands with Battle Gears like Silver JetKor, Silver Explosix Gear, and Silver Axator Gear, alongside Mobile Assault Vehicles such as Pyrus Raytheus and Pyrus Jakalier acquired from Linus Claude. He also commandeers Bakugan from opponents, including Darkus Venoclaw from Taylor and Ventus Ziperator from Sein.

Dan's role in *Gundalian Invaders* centers on defending Neathia from the Gundalian Empire alongside the Battle Brawlers—Marucho Marukura, Shun Kazami, Jake Vallory, Fabia Sheen, and the conflicted Gundalian spy Ren Krawler. Initially misled about the war's origins, Dan and his allies uncover Gundalia's aggression and work to protect Neathia's Sacred Orb. This season marks his first absence from Vestroia/New Vestroia and features no attribute-changing Bakugan, though Gate Cards facilitate attribute shifts.

Across the series, Dan develops psychic abilities, including telepathy and clairvoyance, often experiencing visions linked to conflicts like the Neathian-Gundalian war. The "Switch Code" bond with Drago later enables Dan to summon Mechtogan like Zenthon, though it also creates a painful mental link with the antagonist Mag Mel. Dan's brawling record peaks in earlier seasons but declines in *Mechtanium Surge*, where he loses eight battles.

Post-*Gundalian Invaders*, in *Mechtanium Surge*, Dan struggles to control new powers granted by Code Eve, leading to temporary exile from the Battle Brawlers for training. He eventually reconciles with the team after acknowledging his earlier arrogance. His legacy extends across dimensions, revered as a living legend by brawlers from Earth, Vestal, Neathia, and Gundalia.
