Description
Creampanda, also called Cream Panda, is a central character in the Anpanman franchise. Uncle Jam confirmed his background traces back to Custard Land, though his exact origins within that realm remain unspecified. Not created by Uncle Jam, he was adopted into the family, becoming the foster brother of Melonpanna and Rollpanna. This adoption makes him one of the few bread heroes not directly crafted by Uncle Jam, alongside Shokupanman.
His head is a cream bun featuring distinct black eye circles resembling a panda's – a trait he initially disliked. He wears a pale yellow suit, yellow gloves and boots, and a red cape, with the letter "C" emblazoned on his shirt signifying his name. The unique hand-like shape of his head enables his primary ability, the "Guu-Choki-Punch" (Rock-Paper-Scissors Punch), a headbutt attack executed by contorting his face. While potentially powerful, this attack often fails to connect.
At six years old, Creampanda is the youngest and smallest member of Anpanman's superhero team. He exhibits a blend of immaturity and tenacity, deeply admiring Anpanman and striving to emulate him. Despite his relative weakness, he displays courage and a protective instinct toward friends. His immaturity frequently leads to petty conflicts or competitive behavior with younger characters, reflecting his childlike sensitivity.
His prominence began with his debut in episode 469 of the television series. He appears in franchise films including *Soreike! Anpanman: Happy no Daibōken* (2005) and *Soreike! Anpanman: Buruburu no Takarasagashi Daibōken!* (2017), with roles aligning to his established traits rather than depicting new development arcs. A notable aspect is the evolution of his name: he initially introduced himself as "Creampan da" ("I’m Creampan"), which audiences misinterpreted as "Creampanda." Over time, he accepted this name despite initially correcting others. His portrayal across other official media like OVAs or spin-offs maintains consistency in emphasizing his youthful resilience, admiration for Anpanman, and occasional comedic failures in heroics.
