Description
Reona West, a 14-year-old idol and student at Paprika Private Academy, navigates life as the younger twin of Dorothy West. Born to a Canadian father and Japanese mother, his initial shyness and reliance on Dorothy gradually transform through mentorship from Sophy Hojo, fostering newfound independence. Evolving into a composed mediator, Reona bridges tensions within his unit, Dressing Pafé, particularly between Dorothy and the headstrong Sion Todo.
His delicate features—light pink curls accented by a left-side braid, dark pink eyes, and a beauty mark beneath the left eye—coupled with his use of the gender-neutral "watashi," often lead to mistaken assumptions about his gender, later clarified as male. Reona and Dorothy share the distinction of being the first characters to jointly represent the fashion brand Fortune Party.
While deeply connected to Dorothy, Reona cultivates his identity, balancing loyalty with self-assertion. His calm diplomacy eases friction with Sion, and Sophy’s guidance empowers him to co-design outfits with Cosmo Hojo and strategize conflict resolutions. Proactive moments include reclaiming confiscated PriTickets and mending rivalries. A film adventure strands Reona, Dorothy, and Sion in the surreal United States of Pamerica and later the Gobi Desert, where they ally with Hibiki Shikyoin. The desert’s magic alters Hibiki’s speech patterns, sparking comedic exchanges, and the group’s collaborative performance conjures an oasis, highlighting Reona’s adaptability.
Temporarily ascending to "God Idol" status, Reona willingly steps down to uphold team unity. His family-oriented nature, inherited from his mother, pairs with a fondness for strawberry parfaits. The Korean dub subtly alters his uniform and omits gender references for cultural sensitivity.
Trivia notes his February 5 birthday, shared across franchises, and left-handedness. Early concepts featured white hair, later revised to pink. His name, rooted in the solfège scale’s second note, echoes the series’ musical motifs.
