Description
Tsukushi Futaba is a second-year student in Class 2-B at Tsukinomori Girls' Academy, where she serves as class president. She leads the band Morfonica as its drummer. Her family includes her parents and two younger sisters, Aoi and Kaori. Her father manages several food-related businesses, including a café in a local mall's food court. Tsukushi shares a close bond with her family and sometimes travels abroad with them. Her musical journey began early; she first played drums in her elementary school's marching band before co-founding Morfonica.
Having attended Tsukinomori since kindergarten, Tsukushi progressed through elementary and middle school alongside Touko Kirigaya, though their paths never crossed directly during those years. This led Touko to initially misremember her name as "Tanaka-san" or "Yamada" when they finally met at CiRCLE.
Standing 150 cm tall, Tsukushi is notably short. She has dark purple hair often styled in low twin tails and distinctive orange eyes. Her initial casual outfit consisted of a light yellow knee-length polka dot dress, matching hair bows, a thin pink belt, a black necklace with a gold pendant, white ankle socks, and reddish-brown flats.
Tsukushi blends confidence and stubbornness with an occasional tendency towards clumsiness, especially noticeable during interactions with Touko, who frequently teases her about these mishaps, sparking arguments. Driven to become dependable, she dislikes being treated like a child, partly due to her stature. She possesses culinary skills, showing particular passion for baking, and often suggests menu additions to Hazawa Coffee, eventually starting part-time work there.
As Morfonica's drummer, she performs with the band during the "BanG Dream! FILM LIVE 2nd Stage" concert, playing the songs "Daylight" and "Bloom Bloom" in their set. Morfonica also joins other bands for the encore performance of "Kizunairo no Ensemble".
Additional details note her collection of decorative plants at home and her difficulty with swimming. Her name carries symbolism: "Futaba" (二葉) can reference a twinleaf plant or sprout, potentially alluding to her twin-tailed hairstyle, while "Tsukushi" (つくし) derives from characters meaning "ancient musical instrument" and "purple," and also denotes the spore stem of the horsetail plant.
