Shôji Satô, a second-year student at Totsuki Culinary Institute, resides in the Polaris Dormitory. He and his close companion, Daigo Aoki, are primary sources of the dorm's liveliness. Despite frequent arguments and occasional physical clashes, Shôji is consistently seen alongside Daigo, reflecting a strong, if combative, bond. His appearance projects toughness: dirty blond hair swept into a semi-mohawk with darker edges. He wears the standard Totsuki uniform unbuttoned and without a tie, switching to a chef's uniform for cooking. Beneath this rough exterior, Shôji shows fierce loyalty to fellow dorm residents, defending them against insults and offering support during major culinary competitions. He actively participates in dorm activities, including gatherings in Zenji Marui's room. Shôji earned his place in Polar Star Dormitory by passing Fumio Daimidō's entrance cooking test prior to the main series. While his cooking style lacks a defined specialty, his skills are solid enough to maintain his place at the competitive academy; one known dish he prepares is fried shrimp as a snack. Shôji and Daigo hold the dorm record for the longest gap between their manga debut and the official revelation of their names. Neither qualified for the Autumn Elections, and both were occasionally absent from group activities involving other dorm members.
