Description
Aina Yoshiwara is a first-year student at Oumi Women's University and becomes one of the central figures in the diving club known as Peekaboo. She initially enters university with dreams of a glamorous debut, hoping to make friends and find romance. In pursuit of this goal, she joins the Tinker Bell tennis club and adopts a flashy, attention-grabbing persona. This persona includes a blonde wig, heavy and bold makeup, and gaudy clothing, a look that earns her the mocking nickname Kebako from her peers, a term that roughly translates to "Cakey" or "makeup monster". Her natural appearance is far more subdued and charming, featuring short dark blue hair and a simple, cute face, a stark contrast to her manufactured public image.

Her time in the tennis club proves to be a failure. Instead of finding the social success she craved, she is ostracized, looked down upon, and bullied by her seniors, who treat her as a source of amusement rather than a fellow member. This mistreatment comes to a head during the Miss Izu Contest, where a breakdown leads to her being defended by Iori Kitahara and Kouhei Imamura. Their actions, which include a public act of revenge against the club's abusive captain, inspire Aina to leave the toxic environment of Tinker Bell and join the Peekaboo diving club.

Within the Peekaboo club, Aina finds a much more accepting and fair environment where she can genuinely participate in diving and form real friendships. Her personality is complex and varies greatly depending on the situation. In her daily life, she is generally quiet, shy, soft-spoken, and sensible, often serving as one of the few rational voices amidst the club's chaotic and frequently nude antics. She is quick to criticize the boys for their lack of modesty. However, when she puts on her heavy makeup or consumes alcohol, her demeanor changes dramatically. As her flashy alter ego, she becomes more confident, bold, and audacious. When drunk, she becomes reckless, impulsive, and even violent, with a noted tendency to try and forcibly remove Iori's underwear. Her inebriated state also causes her to slip into the Kitakyushu dialect of her hometown, a trait she normally tries to hide due to self-consciousness about her rural roots.

Aina harbors deep-seated insecurities, particularly regarding her small bust size, which makes her envious of more well-endowed women like Nanaka Kotegawa and Azusa Hamaoka. This insecurity drives her to seek out bust-enhancement books and contributes to her generally low self-esteem. Despite her shy exterior, she is a romantic at heart and frequently daydreams about love, a trait that sets her apart from her more hedonistic club members. Her primary motivation shifts from a vague desire for a glamorous life to a more specific yearning for acceptance and love, which becomes focused on Iori Kitahara. She develops romantic feelings for him after he stands up for her, seeing him as a hero. Her affection for Iori is a significant part of her story, though it is initially unrequited, leading her to seek advice and assistance from Kouhei, who acts as her reluctant love consultant.

Her key relationships are all centered within the Peekaboo club. She shares a friendship with Chisa Kotegawa that is tinged with envy over Chisa's closer relationship with Iori and her physique, though this is not openly antagonistic. She is frequently exasperated by the rowdy behavior of her seniors, including Ryujiro Kotobuki, Shinji Tokita, and Azusa Hamaoka, but is on good terms with them. Her relationship with Kouhei Imamura evolves significantly; after her initial attraction to him fades and her feelings for Iori are rejected, she eventually accepts Kouhei's confession, beginning a mutual romantic relationship with him.

Beyond her social and emotional traits, Aina possesses notable practical abilities. Having grown up helping with her family's farm and business, she is a skilled driver and holds a manual transmission (MT) driving license, a capability that proves useful during club retreats and trips. She is also capable of operating a tractor. Over the course of the story, Aina undergoes significant development. She moves from being a socially rejected outsider desperate for approval to a more confident and accepted member of a found family. She gradually sheds her heavy makeup persona, embracing her natural appearance more consistently. Her journey is one of building internal resilience and finding self-worth not through superficial attention, but through genuine camaraderie and the discovery of a passion for diving.
