Description
Director Bear, whose real name is Bommy, serves as the president of the Hunter Association in the Clearflow Lake area of the dungeon. He is an anthropomorphic bear who walks upright, with brown or tan fur and an imposing stature that stands well over two meters tall. His typical attire includes a green hooded cloak and a matching fedora adorned with a buckle shaped like a bear's head, and he is also known to wear glasses along with black and green clothing.
Despite his fearsome and burly appearance, Director Bear maintains a calm and serious demeanor that befits his leadership position. He is widely regarded as kind, wise, and supportive, particularly toward younger members of the association whom he regularly helps and guides. However, when the situation calls for it, particularly during interrogations of criminals, he can reveal a much more terrifying and intimidating side. This duality makes him an effective leader who commands respect while also earning genuine trust from the hunters and staff under his charge.
To become president of the Hunter Association, Director Bear inevitably gained extensive experience as a hunter, and he possesses notable combat abilities that match his physical strength. He wields powerful claws and strong fighting skills, and can unleash a loud howl. His physical power is considerable enough that he is capable of carrying Boxxo, the vending machine protagonist, demonstrating strength that surpasses expectations even for a bear-like beastman. He is also known to be one of the few characters who becomes aware that Boxxo houses a human soul, though the circumstances of how he discovered this remain unclear.
Director Bear holds a significant role in the community, overseeing operations at the Hunter Association headquarters and commissioning various tasks and expeditions. He requests assistance from Lammis and Boxxo to support a group known as the Menagerie of Fools, and he considers Boxxo to be quite helpful. When the village faces practical problems, such as the spread of disease in a local establishment, Director Bear turns to Boxxo for solutions, demonstrating his pragmatic approach to leadership. He also commissions the group to survey the exterior of the labyrinth, showing his ongoing commitment to mapping and understanding the dungeon environment.
Director Bear has a history with Director Dark, as the two were once part of the same team, though like everyone else, he finds himself exasperated by Dark's constant jokes. He is familiar with the history of the Netherlord and, like many others, becomes a victim of that antagonist's manipulative schemes. When he learns that Kerioyl and his family have secretly pledged allegiance to the Netherlord, Director Bear does not hesitate to declare them enemies, revealing his unwavering stance against those who threaten the safety of his domain. Throughout the series, he demonstrates genuine care for those under his protection, expressing concern for Lammis's wellbeing and showing anger born of worry rather than mere frustration.
