Description
Gerd is a giant from the island of Elbaf and serves as the doctor for the New Giant Warrior Pirates. She is a slender giantess with long blonde hair, part of which is styled into two braids on the sides of her head, and light blue eyes. Her attire consists of a revealing one-piece purple fur garment, an eggshell-colored tattered cape, fur boots, and a long black and yellow striped stocking on her left leg. As a child, she wore a light blue long-sleeved dress and kept her shoulder-length hair in two braids under a yellow checkered kerchief.
Sixty-three years before the current storyline, Gerd was a resident of the Sheep's House orphanage in Elbaf, where she became a childhood friend of the young Charlotte Linlin, who would later become the Emperor Big Mom. The two girls often played together, and Gerd enthusiastically taught Linlin about the traditions of Elbaf, including the semla treat associated with the Winter Solstice Festival. Despite their friendship, Gerd was sometimes afraid of Linlin's uncontrollable strength. When Linlin suffered a rampage due to her craving sickness during the festival's fasting period, a horrified Gerd summoned Mother Carmel to the scene. She witnessed Linlin cause widespread destruction, fatally injuring the elder hero Jorul, an event that left Gerd deeply traumatized. Like the rest of the giant tribe, she came to hold a deep hatred for Linlin following this incident and the later revelation of Carmel's disappearance.
Gerd has demonstrated a kindhearted and generous personality. As a child, she made an effort to improve the relationships between the children of Sheep's House and the adult giants of Elbaf. Despite the trauma she endured, she overcame her past to become a strong warrior. By her own account, she adores humans and finds them cute, though she is careful to distinguish her feelings from those of her crewmate Road, for whom she has a strong dislike. She is shown to be caring toward her fellow crew members, standing by her captain Hajrudin regardless of the danger.
In terms of her history, Gerd was present twenty-two years ago when she, Hajrudin, and another giant named Goldberg traveled to the destroyed island of Ohara. There, they salvaged the books that scholars had thrown into the lake to protect them from the World Government, subsequently transporting these valuable texts to Elbaf. As an adult, Gerd joined Hajrudin in his mission to spiritually revive the Giant Warrior Pirates. The crew became S-Class mercenaries for the pirate dispatch organization Buggy's Delivery, rising to become the organization's top earners. After Hajrudin swore allegiance to the Straw Hat Pirates, Gerd left Buggy's organization with the rest of her crew to integrate the New Giant Warrior Pirates into the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. Following the departure, she and her crew were added to Buggy's deserter list.
Gerd shares a close and long-standing relationship with Hajrudin, having known him since their childhoods when she watched him train to become a warrior. She joined his cause and remains loyal to him. In contrast, she openly dislikes Road, considering him a strange person and the true shame of Elbaf, to the point of being willing to attack him to rescue captives. She gets along well with her crewmate Goldberg, trusting him enough to share her thoughts. She also has a pet owl named Piper, with whom she can communicate and whose reports she trusts. Upon meeting the Straw Hat Pirates, Gerd was apologetic for Road's mistreatment of them and acted as a friendly guide.
As a giant, Gerd possesses immense physical strength and was recognized as an S-Class mercenary. Her primary role is as the doctor of her crew, indicating significant medical expertise. She is shown to be skilled enough to treat serious injuries and provide accurate diagnoses. Additionally, Gerd wields a single-bladed axe in combat and has demonstrated the ability to use combination attacks with her crewmates, such as an attack that creates a compressed air beam. She also possesses craftsmanship skills, capable of creating detailed clothing for humans despite her giant size.
