Description
Gora is a character from the 2014 anime series Little Astro Boy, serving as one of the primary antagonists alongside the criminal Hamegg and the scientist Dr. Flau. Gora is a large, pink or purple gorilla robot who functions as a physical enforcer and accomplice in Hamegg's various schemes to outsmart, outdo, or impress the young robot hero Astro. The character is voiced by Daisuke Egawa in the Japanese version and by Adam Fedyk in the English version.

In terms of personality, Gora is depicted as being somewhat dim-witted and emotionally driven, often acting as the muscle of the trio. Unlike the more calculating Hamegg or the intellectual Dr. Flau, Gora tends to react based on his feelings, which can sometimes lead to complications in their plans. Despite his role as a villainous henchman, his antics are portrayed in a lighthearted and silly manner, fitting the preschool-oriented, jovial tone of the series. He has a tendency to add his own name to the end of his sentences, frequently exclaiming "Gora" as a verbal tic.

Gora's primary motivation is to follow the orders of Hamegg, though his actions are not driven by genuine malice. In one episode, he becomes emotionally attached to a small penguin robot named Coo, refusing to hand it over even to his allies, which demonstrates a capacity for care and emotional impulsiveness that overrides his mission. His role in the story is consistently that of a helper to Hamegg, participating in various plots that interfere with Astro and his friends' adventures, only for the schemes to ultimately fail or result in the group working together.

Gora's key relationships are with his two partners in crime. He works directly under Hamegg, a mansion-dwelling criminal who envies Astro's abilities, and alongside Dr. Flau, the scientist who provides technical support for their plans. While they function as a team, Gora is often the one to execute the more physical aspects of their operations, such as climbing a tall tower with Coo in a scene that directly references King Kong. His relationship with Astro is primarily antagonistic, though the series ends with them cooperating on occasion, highlighting the show's focus on positive messages over traditional conflict.

Throughout the series, Gora exhibits a notable moment of development that suggests a softer side beneath his tough exterior. When he believes he is about to fall from a great height, his primary concern is for the safety of the penguin Coo, apologizing for putting the creature in danger and expressing gratitude for the time they spent together. As a gorilla robot, his most notable ability is his immense physical strength and climbing skills, which he uses to perform tasks such as scaling tall structures. While he does not possess the advanced flight or laser capabilities of Astro, his physical prowess makes him a credible, if comedic, obstacle for the young hero and his friends.
