Description
SAI is a character who appears in the final story arc of Dr. Stone, introduced as a key figure in the Kingdom of Science's ambitious moon mission. He is the older brother of the wealthy and charismatic adventurer Ryusui Nanami. While Ryusui is known for his bold and expansive desires, SAI possesses a contrasting personality, being a reclusive genius whose world revolves almost entirely around mathematics and computer programming.

Born into the powerful Nanami conglomerate as the child of a concubine, SAI and his brother occupied a complex and somewhat marginalized position within the family, a fact symbolized by their exclusion from official family photographs. From a very young age, SAI displayed extraordinary intellectual gifts, particularly an ability to perform complex calculations like ten-digit multiplication mentally. This prodigious talent was noticed even by Ryusui in his infancy, who would later relentlessly pester his older brother to become his subordinate.

Despite his genius, SAI found the pressure from the Nanami family and his brother's overwhelming personality stifling. His greatest refuge was in the world of video games; he would hide in an attic to play Dragon Quest on a Nintendo DS, and after acquiring a laptop, he began writing his own programs, dreaming of becoming a game engineer. Ultimately, to escape the demands placed upon him, SAI fled to India, where he worked as a university lecturer and continued his private studies in mathematics and programming.

SAI's physical appearance is notable. He is tall, standing at 181cm, with dark brown hair and sharp, deeply chiseled features that come from his Japanese and Indian heritage. His good looks are so striking that the character Chrome describes him as being frustratingly handsome. Unlike his younger brother, SAI does not have the distinctive anchor-shaped eyebrows that are a trademark of Ryusui's design.

When he is revived from the petrification by Senku and his team in India, his immediate reaction is not one of gratitude but of sheer panic. Upon seeing his brother Ryusui, SAI attempts to flee, a humorous and telling reaction born from a childhood of being dragged into his brother's grand schemes, from building racecourses to constructing sailboats. This reveals the core of their relationship: a constant, comedic chase of the introverted, math-loving older brother by his powerful, extroverted, and possessive younger sibling who simply wants to harness his genius.

Despite this fraught dynamic, SAI is ultimately a gentle and dedicated person, though his social skills are limited. He corrects others who call him a mathematician, insisting that he is a programmer, highlighting the identity he has chosen for himself. His primary motivation is not wealth, power, or even the grand goal of saving humanity, but the pure joy of intellectual creation, specifically writing code. When Senku informs him that building a true computer will take at least a decade, SAI falls into despair. However, he channels this despair into an astonishing feat of dedication: he locks himself in a room and, working without sleep, hand-writes the entire machine code for the game Dragon Quest across the walls, a physical manifestation of his life's passion and a demonstration of his incredible mental capabilities.

This act changes everything. Senku, recognizing SAI's profound talent and desire, shifts the Kingdom of Science's immediate goal to creating a Famicom (NES) for him. In return, SAI agrees to lend his irreplaceable skills to the moon mission. His role in the story is absolutely vital, as he is described as the strongest mathematical mind in human history. His ability to perform advanced orbital calculations is the key that makes the rocket project possible in a world without electronic computers. He works with the primitive magnetic computers that Senku creates, using his programming expertise to solve the complex equations needed to reach the moon.

SAI's character development is subtle but significant. He begins as a man who ran away from his problems, but through his interactions with the Kingdom of Science, he finds a place where his unique abilities are not just exploited but are essential for a shared, thrilling goal. His relationship with Ryusui also evolves, moving from one of pure avoidance to a working partnership built on mutual respect, even if his brother's antics continue to exasperate him. In essence, SAI is a genius programmer and mathematician whose introverted nature and specific passions are not weaknesses but the very source of his world-changing power, finally finding purpose in helping Senku turn science fiction into reality.
