Melphonshina is a Newman ARKS member with shoulder-length bright lime green hair, purple eyes, a fair complexion, and long pointed ears. She wears a modified basic female Newman hunter outfit and fights using twin daggers and a talis. Her personality blends self-sufficiency and quick-wittedness, often acting as the voice of reason beside her companion Gettemhult. However, she sometimes pushes herself too hard without asking for help and will bypass ARKS regulations for crucial objectives, like traveling alone to the restricted desert planet Lillipa.

She is Melrandia's older sister. During a Dark Falz assault on an ARKS ship, Melphonshina, Gettemhult, and Zeno searched for the missing Melrandia. Their reunion was interrupted by Dark Falz Gemini. In the battle, Melphonshina blocked one of Gemini's attacks but fell to a follow-up strike, an event occurring ten years before the main events involving Ash.

Her death deeply affected Melrandia and Gettemhult. Overcome by grief, Melrandia later adopted her sister's name when Gettemhult mistakenly called her "Melfonseana," symbolizing her unresolved trauma and desire to preserve her sister's memory. Gettemhult's decline into violence and eventual transformation into Dark Falz Elder was partly fueled by losing Melphonshina.

Flashbacks show Melphonshina intervening in conflicts between Gettemhult and Zeno a decade earlier, such as slapping both during an argument. Another flashback depicts her arguing with Gettemhult on the ARKS ship just before Ash's time-displaced arrival. Her legacy endures through Melrandia's character development, particularly when Melrandia reclaims her original name and resolves to live for the future instead of remaining tied to the past.
