Hiroto Kitamura is a participant in the Liar Game tournament. He is first seen as contestant number five during the second round of the game, where he is shown waiting in a large banquet hall along with the other participants. Professionally, he works as a salesman.

In terms of appearance, Hiroto has short black hair that is combed back and wears a pair of thin, black-framed glasses. His typical attire consists of a white shirt and a purple tie. His personality is characterized as nervous and timid. This anxious nature becomes particularly evident during the third round, where he makes significant errors that ruin the team's carefully planned strategy.

His journey in the competition sees him eliminated during the second round, losing by the first question of that contest. Following this loss, he proceeds to compete in the revival round, managing to continue in the tournament. Throughout these stages, he fights alongside the main character, Nao Kanzaki. Later in the contest, near the end of the third question, it is revealed that he is part of a larger group. Fellow participant Yuji Fukunaga discloses that Hiroto had formed a group consisting of eight people, which operated similarly to the strategic group led by Shinichi Akiyama.
