Description
Echo serves as Zeno's ARKS partner and frequent foil, often pushing him to act while ironically wrestling with her own self-confidence and tendency to get separated during missions. Initially outgoing yet uncertain, she exhibits significant reliance on Zeno, consistently clinging to him. Over time, she cultivates greater self-assurance and strives for independence, though she continues to regularly accompany Zeno.
Throughout Episode 1, Echo frequently joins Zeno on missions. While relatively inexperienced in combat, she displays quick thinking and typically motivates him during operations. Following Zeno's disappearance in Episode 2, Echo switches classes to Hunter despite lacking natural aptitude, driven by hope for his return. Her determination to uphold Zeno's legacy sustains her through much of this episode, even enabling resistance to mental manipulation. At the climax, she defies the Absolute Order to join the protagonist's party defending the Mothership, reuniting with Zeno after his ascension. In Episode 3, after Zeno returns as a Council of Six member, Echo reverts to being a Force. Her pursuit of strength leads her to train under Maria.
Specific incidents highlight her development and relationship. During a forest mission under Code F, Zeno outpaces her, leaving her behind; she catches up after the battle and criticizes him for disregarding comrades. Later, when Gettemhult kidnaps Matoi, Echo coordinates with Ash and Zeno to pursue him to Naverius. At the grave monument confrontation, Echo attempts to reach Melfonseana but is physically overwhelmed by Gettemhult. After Zeno stays behind to fight the newly awakened Dark Falz Elder, Echo retreats with Ash, tearfully calling Zeno's name when communication fails.
After the battle against Dark Falz Elder, Echo maintains composure informing Ash and Casra of Zeno's disappearance, asserting he will return. Privately, however, she breaks down in tears. She disregards recall orders to continue searching for Zeno on Naverius, remaining at the grave monument until Ash finds her; he persuades her to return to the ship while he continues the search.
When the new planet Wopal is discovered, Echo appears with her class changed to Hunter. Questioned by Ash about this choice given her suitability for Force, she explains she must persevere in this role until Zeno returns. During a subsequent Falspawn attack, she assists evacuating crew members. Later, she explicitly states her actions are motivated by what Zeno would do, demonstrating her ongoing dedication to his principles.
