Description
Erika Myojo is a character from the final arc of the Cardfight!! Vanguard Divinez animation, first appearing under this name in the Deluxe Finals storyline. She is a young woman, standing 165 centimeters tall, with an A blood type and a birthday on January 22, making her an Aquarius. At the time of the Deluxe tournament, she is nineteen years old.
Her background is unique, as Erika did not originally exist in the current timeline. She was once known as Hikari Myodo, the younger sister of the protagonist Akina Myodo, who traveled from a devastated future to change her brother’s fate. In that erased timeline, Akina was killed, and Hikari was later chosen to wield the Time Destiny card, Liael=Amorta. After successfully altering the past, her own existence began to fade. She was ultimately saved by merging with the spiritual being Gabwelius, allowing her to remain in the present world as a distinct person. To avoid confusion with her past self, who still lives as Hikari, she adopted the new name "Erika Myojo".
Personality-wise, Erika is a serious and determined individual, deeply shaped by the trauma of losing her family in her original future. This loss initially made her guarded and single-minded, pushing her to try and manipulate events from behind a mask to ensure her brother’s survival. Beneath this demeanor, she carries a heavy emotional burden, including a deep-seated hatred and anger toward those responsible for the destruction of her original world, particularly Suo Yobitsugi. Despite these darker emotions, her core motivation remains the protection of her brother and finding a place to belong in the new reality.
In the Deluxe Finals, her role evolves from a time-traveling savior to an active participant forging her own path. As a research student for the professional team Kiyokura Anchor Bolt, a role she was recommended for by Taizo Kiyokura, her goal is to prove herself as a professional Vanguard fighter by winning the tournament. Her story arc centers on her confrontation with her traumatic past, particularly when she is pitted against Suo Yobitsugi, the person who inadvertently caused her original brother’s death. This match becomes a crucial test of her ability to face her hatred and trauma directly. Throughout the tournament, she also receives guidance from the spirit of Gabwelius, who resides within her, further developing her relationship with the entity that saved her existence.
As a fighter, Erika is highly skilled, a fact demonstrated by her status as a former winner of the Fate War in her original timeline. She possesses considerable expertise with her chosen deck, which hails from the Keter Sanctuary nation. Her key abilities are centered on her flagship unit, the Divine card Liael=Amorta, which allows her to manipulate fate and time during battles, making her a formidable strategist. Her fighting style incorporates powerful defensive maneuvers, such as utilizing multiple Perfect Guards, and leveraging the unique Divine Skill of her ace unit to control the flow of the game.
