TV-Series
Description
Shinemon Nitta, also known as Shin Nitta, serves as uncle and guardian to Misaki Tokura after her parents die in a car accident roughly ten years before the original series. At the time of their deaths, he was a Hitsue High School student, wearing its uniform, creating a chronological inconsistency with his later stated age of 38. He inherited the family cat and temporarily managed the card shop Card Capital, which Misaki would later inherit. He initially managed the first Card Capital store, later splitting his time between it and Card Capital 2.

During his teenage years explored in the Shinemon Arc, he fiercely protected Card Capital from entrepreneur Esuka Hibino's attempts to acquire it for her chain. He self-proclaimed himself the shop's manager despite lacking business experience, focusing more on physically guarding it than reopening it—a strategy Esuka later criticized. His early tactics included using catnip to lure cats against Esuka's fear of felines. He formed close bonds with friends Mark Whiting, Rive Shindou, and Rive's sister Mikuru Shindou. Rive acted as his Vanguard mentor, though Shinemon never defeated him.

His personality blends cheerfulness and approachability with underlying determination. He enthusiastically teaches new players Cardfight!! Vanguard and offers moral support, such as organizing training camps for Team Q4. He also displays calculated cunning, deliberately reintroducing Vanguard to help Misaki process trauma. As a teenager, he exhibited rashness and impulsiveness, acting before thinking to protect Card Capital. This led to academic struggles, poor attendance, and failing grades requiring make-up exams. His devotion aimed to honor Misaki's parents and provide what they could not.

In cardfighting, his preferred clan shifted between timelines. In the original and G series continuity, he used Murakumo, rarely fighting on-screen until G, where he employed this deck to guide Chrono Shindou—Rive's son. In the V Series' Shinemon Arc, he used a Genesis deck focused on accumulating five Force Gift Markers to activate "Astral Plane" and summon Giant Deity of Distant World, Valkerion. He initially relied heavily on this tactic but later diversified. He wore rimless glasses specifically during cardfights, distinct from his everyday thick-rimmed reflective pair.

His development centered on responsibility and resilience. After losing Card Capital to Esuka in a high-stakes duel, he fell into deep despair, worsened by witnessing Esuka with Misaki at the hospital. This catalysed self-reflection about his managerial shortcomings, particularly failing to reopen the shop. Encouraged by friends and rivals like Nanami Gonomi, he confronted his failures and requested a rematch. Esuka offered redemption through the S Cup Tournament, where winning teams could challenge her for Card Capital ownership. His journey also involved processing grief after Rive Shindou's disappearance during a supernatural incident on planet Cray; Rive sacrificed himself to prevent Chrono being trapped there, leaving Shinemon adrift until refocusing on supporting others.

Interpersonal relationships defined his growth. He shared a mentor-student dynamic with Rive and playful camaraderie with Mark, who aided his schemes disguised as "Ninja Master." Interactions with Mikuru Shindou included ship tease, implied in G when he offered to care for her if anything happened to Chrono. In V, Mikuru harbored a more explicit crush, though Shinemon dismissed romantic notions due to age difference. Esuka Hibino evolved from antagonist to complex figure; she admired Misaki's father, secretly assisted Shinemon's Halloween tournament efforts, and mutual respect followed the S Cup arrangement.

His later years reflected a matured protective nature. He maintained Card Capital as a haven during crises like the Link Joker invasion, remaining unaffected and providing logistical support. He balanced managerial duties across both stores while continuing to advise players, demonstrating his journey from impulsive self-proclaimed manager to a stable pillar of the Vanguard community.
