Description
Beelzebub is the sixth-born of the seven demon brothers and serves as the Avatar of Gluttony in the Devildom. He is the elder twin brother of Belphegor, with whom he shares a unique and powerful bond. Originally an angel, Beelzebub fought alongside his siblings in the Great Celestial War. During this conflict, he was forced to make an impossible choice between saving his younger sister Lilith or his twin brother Belphegor, ultimately choosing to save Belphegor. This event left him with profound guilt and a sense of responsibility for Lilith's death, a trauma that continues to shape his actions and his protective nature toward his remaining family.
Physically, Beelzebub is the tallest of the brothers with an extremely muscular physique, a direct result of his dedication to exercise and sports like Fangol. He has messy orange hair and violet eyes with a pink gradient, which he shares with his twin. His typical attire often includes a black tank top with a red and black jacket tied around his waist.
As the embodiment of gluttony, Beelzebub is perpetually hungry and is almost always seen eating something. His appetite is so immense that he will sometimes consume inedible objects or ingredients meant for potion-making, which explains his poor performance in that subject. He is easily bribed with food, willing to perform favors or tasks for anyone who promises him a meal. Despite this overwhelming focus on food, a "Demon Brain Scan" revealed that only forty percent of his brain is occupied by thoughts of eating, while fifty percent is dedicated to his family, demonstrating that his love for his brothers surpasses even his most basic urges.
Beneath his simple and food-driven exterior lies a surprising emotional maturity. Beelzebub is protective, loyal, and deeply cares for the well-being of his siblings. He dreams of a peaceful world where his entire family can live happily without worry. His innocent and straightforward nature often contrasts with his immense physical strength, which he has trouble controlling at times. He holds tremendous guilt over Lilith's death and worries that Belphegor blames him for what happened, a fear that adds a layer of melancholy to his character.
In the story, Beelzebub is among the first to form a pact with the main character. He is initially distrustful due to family secrets but grows to value the main character's presence, even admitting that being around them makes him feel less hungry. He frequently vows to protect the main character, offering to act as their shield, referencing his time as a cherub who guarded the gates to the Celestial Realm. His loyalty is further demonstrated when he rebels against Lucifer upon discovering that Belphegor had been imprisoned in the attic rather than studying in the human world.
His most significant relationship is with his twin brother, Belphegor. The two share an empathic connection that allows them to sense each other's feelings. Beelzebub is extremely affectionate towards Belphegor and becomes more talkative and lively in his presence. He also shares a deep respect for Lucifer, who gave him confidence when he struggled with his powers as an angel. Despite this respect, Beelzebub is not afraid to confront Lucifer when it comes to protecting his family.
Throughout the main story, Beelzebub's development involves confronting his past and his guilt. When it is revealed that the main character is a descendant of Lilith, he tries to compensate by constantly offering them food, acting out of a desire to make amends for his past failure. He also demonstrates significant growth in patience, enduring severe trials in the Reaper's Cave where his lifespan was threatened due to an accidental destruction of a cursed record. His brothers and the main character ultimately sacrifice portions of their own lifespans to save him, an act that deeply moves him.
Notable abilities include his immense physical strength, which allows him to subdue his brothers like Mammon and Leviathan with ease. In his demon form, he grows insect-like wings, a reference to his name which means "Lord of the Flies." He is also a talented athlete, having been one of the top five snowboarders in the Devildom before quitting due to food restrictions.
