ONA
Description
Daal is a central character from the Screecher's Reach segment of the anthology series. She is a young human female with red hair, fair skin, and brown eyes. At the start of her story, Daal is a child laborer living a life of drudgery, working in a grim rural workhouse on an unnamed planet alongside her friends Baython, Keena, and Quinn. Her existence is one of hard labor, and she is deeply frustrated with her circumstances, yearning for a life of adventure and freedom beyond the confines of her workhouse and the surrounding farms.

Daal is defined by a strong sense of ambition and a desperate desire to escape her oppressive reality. She looks to the stars as a symbol of hope and a better future. This longing makes her vulnerable to manipulation. Her personality is a mix of determination and a conflicted sense of loyalty, as she struggles with keeping secrets from her closest friends. A pivotal moment occurs when she speaks with Baython, who encourages her to take any chance she gets to find something more, advice she later clings to. This advice shapes her ultimate decision, even as it causes her visible distress.

Her role in the story is that of a protagonist who is unknowingly being groomed for the dark side. She has been secretly contacted by a Sith Lord known as the Sith Mother, who provides her with a communication amulet. The Sith Mother presents Daal with a final test: to journey to a haunted cave known as Screecher's Reach and confront the legendary ghost that lives there. Believing this to be her escape, Daal leads her friends to the cave. While her companions flee, Daal remains and discovers the Screecher is not a ghost but a decrepit Sith woman. In a life-or-death struggle, Daal unknowingly taps into the Force for the first time, using telekinesis to bring a rock down on her adversary. She then takes the Sith's red lightsaber and kills her, proving her capability for violence and survival.

Daal's key relationships are with her three friends, who represent the innocent life she is leaving behind. Baython acts as an older brother figure, offering her wisdom and support. Keena and Quinn are younger and look to Daal with trust and admiration. Her relationship with the Sith Mother is one of manipulation; the Sith Mother offers a false promise of salvation, presenting Daal with an ultimatum to either stay on the planet with her friends or leave with her to become a Sith apprentice. Choosing the latter, Daal boards the Sith Mother's ship, taking one final, regretful look at her abandoned friends before the doors close.

Daal undergoes a tragic development, transforming from an innocent, hopeful child into a Sith apprentice. Her journey is one of lost innocence, where her desire for a better life is exploited, leading her to commit murder and sever ties with her past. Her story concludes not with a heroic escape, but with her stepping onto a dark path. In terms of notable abilities, Daal is Force-sensitive. She demonstrates this primarily through a telekinetic ability, pulling a rock from a cave wall to defeat the Screecher. She also shows a nascent proficiency with a lightsaber, taking one from her defeated enemy and using it as her own.
