Description
Julan Van Reeple is a character from the Star Wars: Visions Volume 2 short film titled I Am Your Mother. She is a young student at a pilot academy in the era of the New Republic, following the events of the original trilogy. Julan is portrayed as a brash and competitive rival to the story's protagonist, a young Twi'lek pilot named Anni.

Julan’s primary role within the narrative is to serve as an antagonist and a source of conflict for Anni. Alongside her mother, Dorota Van Reeple, Julan participates in the academy’s annual family starship race. Her personality is characterized by arrogance and a mocking demeanor; she teases and insults Anni over her mother's unconventional behavior and their family's outdated, rundown ship. This dynamic highlights Julan's own privileged background, as her family possesses a more sophisticated vessel and employs dirty tactics to gain an advantage in the race.

Julan's key relationship is with her mother, Dorota Van Reeple. Together, they form a formidable and unscrupulous racing team. Their ship is noted to have past ties to the fallen Galactic Empire, reflected in its design and equipment, which includes a cannon shaped like a miniature Death Star. Throughout the race, the pair work in unison, using aggressive maneuvers to push other competitors out of the competition, with Julan directly engaging in verbal and piloting confrontations with Anni.

In terms of development, Julan does not undergo a significant personal transformation within the short. Her arc is defined by her defeat at the hands of her rivals. In the climax of the race, Anni and her mother successfully execute a difficult piloting maneuver known as the Ryloth roll. This move distracts Julan, causing her to crash her ship just before the finish line, which allows Anni to claim victory. Julan’s notable abilities lie in her piloting skills and her willingness to use underhanded tactics, though her overconfidence ultimately proves to be her undoing.
