ONA
Description
Che'nya is a third-year student attending Royal Sword Academy, the rival school to Night Raven College. His full name is Artemiy Artemiyevich Pinker, though he is almost exclusively referred to by his nickname, Che'nya. Physically, he has short, choppy purple hair with curved bangs held in place by three bobby pins on the left side. He has yellow eyes with vertical, cat-like pupils and possesses a pair of purple cat ears, which feature a speech bubble piercing containing the word up in his left ear and three arrow piercings in his right ear. He also has a long, bushy purple-striped tail that fades to a white tip. His casual attire consists of a baggy white shirt over a striped purple t-shirt, blue pants, and a purple belt printed with the question Do you stand on your head? He paints his fingernails purple and wears a ring shaped like the Cheshire Cat's smile on his right hand.
Che'nya shares a deep history with Riddle Rosehearts and Trey Clover, as the three were childhood friends. When they were young, Che'nya and Trey were playing near Riddle's house and invited him to join them in a game of croquet, despite Riddle being in the middle of his studies. The three became close, and Riddle would sneak out during his self-study time to play with them. This ended when Riddle's mother discovered their friendship and forbade him from seeing them again. Years later, Che'nya enrolled at Royal Sword Academy, while his childhood friends attended Night Raven College.
Che'nya has a cheerful, mischievous, and carefree personality. He derives amusement from pulling pranks, often for the simple sake of seeing the frightened reactions of others. For example, he once startled Ace and Deuce by making only his head visible, giving the terrifying illusion that he was nothing more than a floating head. Despite the intense rivalry between Night Raven College and Royal Sword Academy, Che'nya shows no fear or hesitation about visiting the opposing school, particularly the Heartslabyul dorm, to see Trey and Riddle.
Che'nya's primary motivation for appearing in the story is to reconnect with his old friends and inject a sense of chaotic fun into otherwise tense situations. His role in the Episode of Heartslabyul is to serve as a catalyst for uncovering the past, as his presence helps the first-year students and the audience learn more about the bond between Riddle and Trey and the reasons behind Riddle's rigid behavior. He enjoys being what could be described as vaguely helpful, offering just enough information or assistance while maintaining an air of mystery and playfulness.
His most notable relationship is with his childhood friends, Riddle Rosehearts and Trey Clover. Their shared history is a key part of his background and motivation. He interacts with the main cast of Night Raven College students, such as Ace and Deuce, primarily as a target for his pranks and a source of bewilderment. As a student of the rival Royal Sword Academy, he is generally viewed with suspicion or hostility by Night Raven College students, though he remains indifferent to their animosity.
Che'nya possesses a unique magical ability that allows him to make parts of his body disappear and reappear at will. The reliability of this power is linked to his mood, making it somewhat unpredictable. In the manga adaptation, his ability is also shown to grant him the power of levitation, allowing him to float in mid-air. This power, along with his cat-like features and enigmatic personality, directly reflects his inspiration as a character based on the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland.
