Description
Abigail Jones, known as Aby, hails from Iraq, where she trained in ballet as a child. Supported by her parents, she won a gold medal in a competition. This ended abruptly in March 2003 when an air raid struck Baghdad as she left a ballet event, killing her parents. The trauma propelled her into a militant group as a child soldier. A nearby grenade detonation during combat caused her collapse, contributing to lasting psychological wounds. She keeps the dented ballet medal from that day as a memento of her past and her parents.

Her experiences forged a personality marked by reserve, blunt honesty, and emotional detachment. She exhibits coldness towards others and contends with suicidal tendencies linked to her wartime trauma. Despite this, she shows selective compassion and possesses significant physical prowess, partly rooted in ballet. Her skills encompass combat, acting, and unwavering commitment during missions.

She eventually left militancy and joined con artist Laurent Thierry, becoming his second-in-command in Team Confidence. Her role often leverages her athleticism and appearance. During operations, like the con targeting film producer Eddie Cassano in Los Angeles, she posed as a woman of few words within his circle, aiding the deception. Interactions with teammate Makoto Edamura gradually revealed a kinder aspect of her nature.

A significant development occurred during the Singapore Sky con targeting the Ibrahim brothers. Serving as a pilot in a rigged air race, she suffered severe PTSD episodes triggered by flying, stemming from wartime memories. These flashbacks nearly caused crashes during auditions and the race, requiring Edamura's intervention to refocus. Her trauma resurged acutely upon learning Lewis Mueller, a former US military pilot involved in Singapore, participated in the Iraq bombings, potentially including the attack that killed her parents. Confronted by this connection, she attempted to murder Mueller in rage, an act physically prevented by Edamura.

Mueller later approached her unexpectedly and apologized. This moment proved transformative, allowing her to see him as an individual, not a symbol of hatred. It initiated a shift, enabling her to begin releasing long-held anger and resentment. Following this, her demeanor softened noticeably. While retaining her characteristic boldness and toughness, she became more open and trusting towards her teammates, viewing them as genuine friends.
