TV-Series
Description
Riku Nanase, the center of idol group IDOLiSH7, possesses distinctive red hair and eyes. He radiates natural energy and optimism, often expressing his thoughts directly, which can unintentionally seem rude. His determination to spread joy through singing stems from a deep desire to become "an existence that can spread smiles around the world."

Born with chronic asthma, Riku spent much of his childhood hospitalized, limiting peer interaction and fostering a love of reading. His twin brother, Tenn Kujo, frequently performed for him during hospital visits. When their family's club faced bankruptcy, Tenn left home at age 13 to join the idol industry, partly to cover Riku’s medical expenses. This separation fueled Riku’s own decision to become an idol, hoping to understand Tenn's world.

Scouted by Otoharu Takanashi after singing at karaoke with friends, Riku joined IDOLiSH7 despite initial skepticism from others. His vocal talent quickly established him as the group’s "secret weapon," noted for its exceptional emotional impact. However, his health remains a significant challenge; he overexerts himself to avoid worrying others, leading to severe asthma attacks and frequent hospitalizations, especially during intensive activities like New Year’s events. This strains relationships, particularly with Tenn, who initially opposed his idol career over health concerns.

During IDOLiSH7’s rise in *Second Beat!*, Riku’s health deteriorates under increasing workloads, forcing him to confront his physical limits. The season emphasizes his struggle to balance passion with self-care, with the group's support becoming crucial. His relationship with Tenn evolves from resentment to a complex rivalry intertwined with mutual care, as Tenn’s protective instincts surface despite outward coldness.

Riku shares close bonds within IDOLiSH7, particularly with Iori Izumi, who monitors his health and provides pragmatic guidance. Their dynamic—Riku’s impulsiveness contrasting Iori’s reserve—resonates with fans. He also connects meaningfully with other members, like repeatedly watching TRIGGER’s performances with Sogo Osaka. His naivety about social norms contrasts with his emotional intelligence onstage, where his raw expressions deeply move audiences.

Character development sees Riku gradually accepting his vulnerabilities and learning to rely on others. While maintaining his earnest drive, he begins prioritizing his well-being and acknowledging the group’s interdependence. His journey reflects a balance between relentless passion and the necessity of self-preservation, solidifying his role as IDOLiSH7’s emotional core.
