Description
Mitsuki Izumi, 21, born March 3, is a member of IDOLiSH7. Standing at 165 cm, he is the group's shortest member and has blood type O. His family runs the bakery Fonte Chocolat, where he helps on his days off, and he holds a food preparation license. He admires the legendary idol Zero and dislikes heights and large objects. His poor sense of direction often leads him astray despite his confidence. Hoping to grow taller, a concern since childhood, he actively performs stretches.
Energetic and optimistic, Mitsuki serves as IDOLiSH7's primary mood-maker. He frequently assumes an older-brother role, caring for younger members and managing group dynamics. His loud, boisterous demeanor makes him the straight man (tsukkomi) in comedic interactions, especially with sub-unit partners Yamato Nikaido and Nagi Rokuya. He excels as an emcee, leveraging his high-energy hosting skills to secure permanent variety programs for the group. Beneath his positivity, however, lie deep-seated insecurities. He questions his place in IDOLiSH7 due to perceived weaknesses in singing and dancing compared to other members and anxieties about his initial recruitment. These doubts stem from past audition failures where his height was often a barrier, and he feels self-conscious when fans criticize his talkative nature during broadcasts.
His recruitment occurred when his younger brother, Iori Izumi, was scouted by agency president Otoharu Takanashi. Iori accepted only on the condition Mitsuki could audition alongside him as a brother duo. Though Mitsuki initially suspected deception, Otoharu formalized arrangements with their parents due to Iori's minor status. While agency staff Banri Ogami stated Mitsuki joined solely due to Iori's stipulation, Otoharu asserted Mitsuki's innate talent was the decisive factor, insisting he wouldn't have been accepted otherwise.
Mitsuki's relationship with Iori is complex. He idolized Iori's natural perfection but felt inadequate, leading to past conflicts. When Iori advised adopting a "cute" image for auditions, Mitsuki rejected it as inauthentic, causing a quarrel. Mitsuki typically initiates reconciliations after arguments. His protective instincts are strong; he once confronted bullies targeting IDOLiSH7 alone, sustaining injuries to shield others, and rescued group members Nagi and Riku from drowning using his swimming skills.
Within IDOLiSH7, Mitsuki fosters supportive bonds. He mentors Nagi, helping him acclimate to Japan's summer heat through midday walks, and provides culinary guidance to Tamaki Yotsuba. He enforces a "no work, no eat" policy with Tamaki, trading homemade cakes for shoe-washing favors. He collaborates frequently with Re:vale member Momo, attending comedy shows and refining emcee techniques. Professionally, Mitsuki starred in the "Ainana Academy" drama as a female home economics teacher, a role chosen to avoid casting female stars during IDOLiSH7's rookie phase.
Trivia includes his bathroom singing habit, youthful appearance enabling failed amusement park student discount attempts, and successfully executing a tablecloth trick during a Christmas drama that impressed Tenn Kujo of TRIGGER. He also practices convincingly impersonating younger individuals.
