ONA
Description
Die Amon is a prominent antagonist and later a complex ally in Bastard!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy-: Hell's Requiem. He holds the distinguished rank of one of the Three Sorcerer Generals, serving directly under the Dark Lord Arshes Nei. Unlike many of his peers, Die Amon is not a naturally-born creature of the night. He was originally a human sorcerer who, through the pursuit of immense power, used his mastery of magic to transform himself into an immortal vampire. This makes him not a common thrall, but a True Ancestor, a being considered among the most powerful undead in existence.
In terms of appearance, Die Amon is a study in grotesque grandeur. His preferred battle form is that of a towering, heavily muscled man with blue-grey skin and a menacing face hidden beneath a skull-like pattern of white makeup and dark paint. This, combined with his gaudy attire, gives him a striking and intimidating presence. However, this monstrous visage is a deception, as Die Amon possesses a secondary, more human form that is surprisingly slender and beautiful. In a defining trait of his eccentric personality, he perceives his powerful, tattooed vampire form as beautiful and his handsome human guise as hideously ugly, an inversion of typical standards that speaks volumes about his character.
His personality is defined by extreme egotism, theatricality, and a skewed sense of aesthetics. Die Amon is a raging narcissist who is utterly convinced of his own magnificence and power. He speaks in an overly formal, grandiose, and drawn-out manner, treating every situation as if it were a stage for his personal drama. He is utterly disloyal to his master, Arshes Nei, harboring secret ambitions to surpass both her and the most powerful Sorcerer General, Kall-Su. To achieve this, he engages in a vile practice of collecting and drinking the blood of virgins, which he believes will continually enhance his already formidable strength.
Die Amon plays a pivotal role as an initial major threat. Tasked with hunting down the resurrected wizard Dark Schneider, he captures the hero Lucien Renlen and his companion Tia Noto Yoko, along with fellow generals Sean Ari and Kai Harn. He demonstrates his power by easily defeating Sean and Kai, even drinking Kai's virgin blood to grow stronger. This cruelty angers the spirit of Dark Schneider within Lucien, allowing the legendary sorcerer to break the seal on his power and confront Die Amon directly. In their ensuing battle, Die Amon proves resilient, but Dark Schneider ultimately outmatches him, exposing him to sunlight, which turns him to dust. Die Amon survives by transforming into a giant bat, only to be captured and forced to submit to a curse of absolute obedience, becoming an unwilling servant to the very man he tried to kill.
After this defeat, Die Amon undergoes a surprising development. He reappears later, having fully accepted his cursed loyalty to Dark Schneider, whom he now reveres as his "most beloved master." Embracing his servitude with the same theatrical passion he once gave to his villainy, he becomes an unpredictable and fiercely powerful ally. In this role, he single-handedly infiltrates the castle of Kall-Su on a night of the full moon—when his vampire powers are at their peak—and defeats many of Kall-Su's most powerful warriors, the Sorcerer Shoguns, in a bid to claim the stronghold for Dark Schneider.
As a True Ancestor vampire, Die Amon possesses an array of classic and specialized abilities. He boasts incredible physical strength, resilience to most forms of attack, and a powerful healing factor that allows him to recover from profound wounds. His enhanced senses are so acute he can identify a virgin by scent alone. His signature technique is the Assassin, a potent beam of destructive energy fired from his eyes that can cause explosions. He can transform into a giant bat for mobility and escape. Unusually for a vampire, he has overcome common weaknesses such as garlic and crosses, but remains vulnerable to sunlight, which can disintegrate him, and specific lightning or ice-based magic. Another notable ability is his resurrection, as even if sunlight turns him to dust, he can reform as a bat and return to life by feeding on spirits in the underworld.
