ONA
Description
Lars Ul de Meta Licana is the prince of the kingdom of Metallicana, acclaimed as its greatest warrior. Fifteen years before the events of the story, he engaged the dark wizard Dark Schneider in a battle that stretched over several days. Realizing he was losing and seeing no chance of victory, Lars summoned the Dragon Knight, a colossal mechanical construct over 500 meters tall originally built by the Twelve Wise Men of Europa. The Dragon Knight absorbed and multiplied his spiritual energy, enabling him to kill Dark Schneider. However, the armor carried a curse: it had been designed for use against the god Anthrax, not for Dark Schneider, who was intended to be its ultimate wielder. The curse transformed Lars into a baby dragon. After Dark Schneider’s death, Lars was believed to have vanished or died; in truth, he wandered in his dragon form, searching for a successor to the Dragon Knight. He was later discovered by Gara, the ninja master and one of the Four Lords of Havoc, who kept him as a pet. Following Dark Schneider’s resurrection, Lars began to accompany him, observing the wizard despite their former enmity. For reasons not fully explained, he can only speak and communicate with Dark Schneider.

Lars is characterized by his bravery and fearlessness; he was willing to face overwhelming odds to protect his kingdom. In his dragon form, he displays no lingering hostility toward Dark Schneider and instead aids him, showing a pragmatic acceptance of his changed circumstances. His primary motivations appear to be fulfilling his duty as the previous wielder of the Dragon Knight and perhaps seeking a resolution to his own curse. He acts as a quiet, observant companion.

In the series, particularly in the second season titled Hell’s Requiem, Lars serves as a supporting character. He initially stays with Gara but eventually joins Dark Schneider’s party. His role is that of a mysterious ally who provides occasional assistance and hints at the deep history between himself and the protagonist. Key relationships include his sister, Sheila Tuel Meta-Ilicana, and his former enemy turned associate Dark Schneider. His relationship with Gara is that of master and pet before he switches loyalties. Lars undergoes little overt character development, but his transformation from a powerful human prince into a helpless-looking dragon and his decision to cooperate with his former foe represent a form of acceptance and adaptation.

As a human, Lars was said to be capable of single-handedly slaying armies. His most notable ability is summoning the Dragon Knight, a gigantic mecha that amplifies the user’s spiritual energy. In his dragon form, he can enter a Dragon Mode that multiplies his power up to one hundred times, materializing his spiritual energy into a draconic form capable of destroying entire armies. His unique telepathic link with Dark Schneider also sets him apart from other characters.
