Description
Funada Yurika collaborated with Dr. Yoshinaga researching a Gibia virus cure. She wore a long-sleeved green top, white pants, a brown-and-white striped scarf, and earrings. The trauma of the apocalyptic outbreak severely deteriorated her mental health, leading to confusion between humans and Gibia monsters.

She was the mother of Kathleen Funada and widow of Robert McDonald, a war photographer she met while nursing. He died when Kathleen was four. During the outbreak, Yurika resided in a survivor camp where her medical skills were vital. Her interest in historical period dramas prompted her to request Sengoku-era stories from Sensui Kanzaki.

Infected when a Gibia stung her during a chaotic night attack on the camp after the lights failed, Yurika wrote a letter to Kathleen. The letter expressed her hope to return if she resisted transformation but urged Kathleen to continue living should she succumb. Yurika began a semi-transformation into a Gibia.

Yukinojyo Onikura, a warrior monk harboring unrequited romantic feelings for her, was compelled to decapitate her off-screen to prevent her full transformation before his own death. Yurika remained unaware of his feelings throughout their acquaintance.
