Description
Commander Bred serves as the supreme commander of the Forest Land Army and stands as a central antagonist in the Angelic Hero arc of Sand Land: The Series. His background is rooted in military service under the original royal family, including King Jam, Queen Lilith, and Princess Ann. A crucial turning point in his past occurred during a war with Sand Land, when an encounter with General Zeu left his body severely damaged, forcing him to undergo extensive cybernetic modifications. This event left him a bitter cyborg, nursing a long-held grudge against the general who caused his injuries. Ten years prior to the main events, Bred witnessed the crash landing of the rogue angel Muniel. When Muniel proposed using the ancient superweapon Garam to defend against the perceived threat of Sand Land, King Jam refused, unwilling to deploy technology that endangers lives. This disagreement led Bred to join forces with Muniel in a successful coup d'état, imprisoning King Jam, sealing Queen Lilith in an urn, and usurping control of Forest Land.

Bred's personality is defined by a complex mixture of ruthlessness and a personal moral code. As a military man, he is a formidable and loyal soldier, but one who believes that overwhelming military power is the only way to protect his nation from its aggressive neighbor. He sees himself as a hero, the one person willing to take difficult and necessary actions that his peace-loving former king would not. Despite this ruthless pragmatism, he possesses a moral side and is visibly disturbed by Muniel's cruelty and sadism. While Muniel wishes to use Garam's death ray to obliterate the capital of Sand Land for petty revenge, Bred opposes this, arguing that the mere presence of the massive warship is intimidating enough to force a surrender. He also demonstrates a genuine sense of responsibility and care for his own soldiers, which becomes a key factor in his eventual redemption. His primary motivation throughout most of the story is to gain unparalleled military might for Forest Land, using Muniel's angelic knowledge and the Aquanium resource to achieve this goal.

Within the story, Bred functions as the secondary antagonist and the primary physical threat to the protagonists. He is first seen confronting Rao and Thief during a mission to steal Aquanium, where his cyborg body proves nearly impervious to their weapons, forcing them to retreat. He leads the Forest Land Army on a raid of the demon village in Sand Land, successfully capturing the demon king Lucifer to obtain the final piece of Aquanium. His key relationships are with his co-conspirator Muniel, for whom he serves as the practical, military-minded counterpart, and with Princess Ann, whose family he helped overthrow. After witnessing Muniel's increasingly erratic and destructive behavior, Bred begins to regret his actions. This remorse culminates when he saves Princess Ann from falling debris inside the exploding Garam, confessing that he is helping because she warned his soldiers of the danger, and acknowledging his mistake.

Bred's character development is a classic arc of redemption. After being defeated in a mech suit by Rao and Thief, he awakens and immediately chooses to defect from Muniel, actively helping the heroes. He assists Ann in navigating the doomed fortress away from populated areas, and by the end of the conflict, his crimes are forgiven. King Jam reinstates him as Supreme Commander, tasking him with the mission of promoting lasting peace between Forest Land and Sand Land, as well as between humans and demons. His notable abilities are primarily derived from his cyborg body. This modification grants him immense physical strength and durability, making him a formidable hand-to-hand combatant who is unfazed by small arms fire and capable of overpowering skilled warriors like Rao. He is also a skilled military strategist and pilot, often utilizing a powerful mech suit in battle.
