ONA
Description
Muniel is a major antagonist in Sand Land: The Series, an angel who descends from heaven with the declared intention of eliminating all demons. He is a young, small-sized angel with a bob cut, clipped wings, a magical staff, and a shoulder bag. His abilities include conjuring lightning with his staff, though his power is heavily dependent on the environment; in arid regions like Sand Land his lightning is weak, while in lush Forest Land it becomes formidable. He also possesses a special urn that can trap beings, including demons, and he later gains access to the Flying Fortress Garam, which he reactivates using the resource Aquanium.
Before his arrival in the mortal world, Muniel worked menial sorting and storage duties in a vast heavenly warehouse. Bored with his repetitive chores, he was promoted to senior angel and subsequently stole an urn, setting out for Sand Land. He announced himself as a savior and marched on Demon Village, directly challenging Lucifer, the king of demons. Lucifer easily overpowered him, clipping his wings and hurling him away after Muniel damaged his television. The impact sent Muniel crashing into Forest Land, where he allied with Supreme Commander Bred. Manipulating Bred, Muniel orchestrated a coup that deposed King Jam and imprisoned Queen Lilith inside his urn because she was a demon. He then proclaimed himself the Angel Hero of Forest Land, brainwashing the populace into hating and fearing demons.
Muniel’s personality is marked by arrogance and a deep need to feel superior. He adopts a heroic facade, constantly challenging demons to duels, but his actions are driven by a desire for recognition and dominion rather than genuine heroism. His motivations stem from boredom, ambition, and a twisted sense of justice that equates all demons with filth. He serves as the primary antagonist in the Angelic Hero arc, working with Bred to seize control of Forest Land and later planning to expand into neighboring kingdoms. His key relationships include his enmity with Beelzebub and Ann, his manipulative partnership with General Bred, and his direct confrontation with Lucifer, who humiliates him and sets his fall into motion.
Throughout the series, Muniel evolves from a disgruntled minor angel into a false messiah who commands a flying fortress and threatens the entire region. His development is driven by his inability to accept his place in the heavenly hierarchy and his growing obsession with proving himself superior. Notable abilities include staff‑based lightning magic, use of the containment urn, and the strategic deployment of the Flying Fortress Garam. His weakness lies in his dependence on environmental conditions for his powers and his reckless overconfidence, which ultimately makes him vulnerable to more capable opponents.
