Before the outbreak, Maki worked as a cabin attendant, a profession she shared with her colleagues Reika and Yukari. She is a young woman with a slim figure, shoulder-length black hair with bangs swept to the left, and blue eyes, often seen wearing a yellow sleeveless blouse, a light blue skirt, and black shoes. Maki has a laid-back, flirtatious, and sociable personality, comfortable with her sexuality and fond of drinking and parties.

Maki's role in the story is brief but impactful. She and her fellow flight attendants are encountered by the main characters Akira Tendou and Kenichirou Ryuuzaki when they all take refuge from zombies inside an underground shopping mall department store. During this time, she quickly connects with Kenichirou, finding him charming and becoming enamored with him. They engage in multiple intimate encounters in the bedding section of the store.

Her motivations are simple, focused on enjoying the immediate pleasures of socializing and her new connection with Kenichirou in the midst of the crisis. She then encounters one of her colleagues, Reika, who has already been turned into a zombie. This encounter leads to Maki being bitten and meeting her end, joining the ranks of the undead. As a zombie, she chases after Kenichirou, forcing him and Akira to flee the mall. Maki does not have any notable combat or survival abilities, as her primary function in the narrative is to demonstrate the sudden and tragic nature of the zombie apocalypse and to serve as a cautionary figure about letting one's guard down.
