Description
Diana, the Jumi of Diamond, led her tribe in Etancel's Bejeweled City. Her leadership during the war against the Deathbringer's army demanded controversial choices, including heavy reliance on Florina, the Clarius, whose healing tears revived fallen Jumi. This depleted Florina’s health and drew criticism from fellow Jumi like Alexandra of Alexandrite, culminating in Florina’s kidnapping.
After Jumi numbers dwindled due to hunting and secrecy, Diana despaired of survival. Believing Florina dead, she transformed into a stone statue to protect her core. Acquired by Geo’s art collector Krissie, she stored Diana while possessing a core belonging to Esmeralda’s sister. When threatened by Jewel Hunter Sandra, Diana left a note instructing Sandra to steal her core. She crystallized permanently by locking her heart and discarding the three keys.
Discovered by Esmeralda and the protagonist in Geo’s storage, Diana resignedly urged Esmeralda to take her sister’s core and flee. After Sandra kidnapped Esmeralda, Diana teleported the protagonist and Elazul to the arena where Sandra extracted Esmeralda’s core. Diana revealed foresight of this outcome, promising to disclose Sandra’s motives if Elazul brought Pearl.
Pearl and the protagonist found Diana petrified in Geo’s basement, a state tied to the Jumi pairing ceremony requiring three heart keys. Upon key retrieval and her awakening, Diana explained Sandra’s motive: revenge for the Jumi’s past seclusion in Etancel after centuries of healing other races with their tears. Sandra interrupted, accusing Diana of exploiting Florina, and stole Diana’s core. With her last breath, Diana implored the group to find Lady Blackpearl to stop Sandra.
Later, Diana appeared crystallized in the Underworld, responsive only via her core near Elazul or Pearl. During the Teardrop Crystal quest’s climax, the protagonist’s tear revived her. She joined fellow Jumi contributing tears to summon a life-draining storm that reversed the protagonist’s petrification, cementing her role in the tribe’s resurgence.
Diana’s personality evolved from domineering pragmatism—sacrificing Florina’s well-being for tribal survival, breeding resentment—to despondent fatalism, accepting Jumi extinction and choosing self-petrification. Her revival in the Teardrop Crystal quest restored her presence, concluding her arc with participation in the collective sacrifice for the protagonist.
