Description
Miss Minako was a teacher at the school Meisuke Nueno attended during his childhood. She came from a long line of psychics, specifically as a descendant of the legendary onmyōji Abe no Seimei, and possessed extraordinary spiritual power. She is best known as the mentor who shaped Nueno into the person he would become. Seeing him bullied and ostracized because of his unusual abilities, she protected him and helped him feel included, encouraging him to use his powers to help others. This formative guidance inspired Nueno to pursue a career as both a teacher and an exorcist.
Her personality was kind, protective, and determined. She did not hesitate to stand up to bullies on behalf of her student and faced supernatural threats head‑on. She was also caring and approachable, traits that made Nueno admire her deeply. Her core motivation was to safeguard her students, especially the vulnerable boy she saw in Nueno, and to pass on the belief that one’s powers should serve others.
Tragically, Miss Minako lost her life while attempting to exorcise a powerful yokai known as a Toubyou that had possessed Nueno. The incident became the defining regret of his life. Following her death, her spirit took up residence inside the demon sealed in Nueno’s left hand. There she acts as a spiritual anchor, using her will to restrain the oni’s malevolent influence and allowing Nueno to safely wield the Demon Hand technique. In this capacity she remains a constant, unseen ally who helps him control his most important weapon.
Her role in the story is thus twofold. As a background figure, her teachings and sacrifice provide the emotional foundation for Nueno’s character and motivations. In a more direct sense, her trapped spirit is the key to his power, making her an ever‑present guide even after death. Her notable abilities include the powerful psychic skills inherited from her lineage, which she used both in life to protect her student and in death to subdue the demon within the hand.
