Live-Action TV
Description
Carlos "Charlie" Blanka is a character who appears in the live-action film and the associated animated series, representing a fusion of two distinct characters from the Street Fighter video game series: the beast-like fighter Blanka and the American soldier Charlie Nash.

In this adaptation, Carlos Blanka is originally a soldier and a close friend of Colonel Guile, serving in his unit. His backstory diverges significantly from the video games, as he is not a plane crash survivor who mutated in the jungle. Instead, Carlos is captured by the forces of the criminal organization Shadaloo. Its leader, General M. Bison, seeks to create the ultimate supersoldier and forces a scientist, Dhalsim, to subject Carlos to genetic experimentation and brainwashing. The procedure mutates him into a large, powerful being with green skin, long orange hair, and a bestial appearance. Although Dhalsim is coerced into performing the transformation, he secretly alters the mental programming by a significant margin to prevent Carlos from becoming a completely mindless killing machine. The resulting creature is known only by his surname, Blanka. Guile, who refers to his friend by the nickname Charlie, is deeply affected by this transformation.

Within the live-action film and the subsequent animated television series, Blanka is portrayed as a tragic figure. His personality is generally passive and docile, showing a fondness for family connections and friendships. He is capable of great gentleness, but when enraged, he attacks with the ferocity and predatory rage of a wild animal. A significant part of his character arc in the animated series involves his struggle with his monstrous appearance and the search for a cure to reverse his mutation, often alongside the other Street Fighters.

His role in the story is primarily that of a sympathetic ally. He is a member of the Street Fighter team, using his unique abilities to fight against the forces of Shadaloo. His primary motivation is to regain control over his life and come to terms with his condition, while also aiding his friends in their battle against evil.

Key relationships define his character. His bond with Guile is the most important, as Guile never gives up hope of saving his friend and restoring his humanity. He also forms alliances with other members of the group, such as Cammy, Dan, and Sakura. In the animated series, his development focuses on learning to control the feral rage that accompanies his mutation, eventually succeeding in mastering his anger and finding a place within the team.

Notable abilities include the power to generate and discharge electricity from his body, a trait common to the video game character. He also fights with a self-taught, animalistic style that incorporates great speed and agility. His signature attacks include rolling his body into a ball to launch himself at opponents and using his claws and teeth in close combat.
