Description
The Bison Troopers, also known as Bison Shock Troops, are a faction of soldiers serving the antagonist General M. Bison. They originate from the 1994 live-action Street Fighter film and the arcade fighting game Street Fighter: The Movie, which was based on it. These characters are not considered part of the main Street Fighter video game canon, being created specifically for the movie and its immediate adaptations. Their primary role is to act as the security force and military arm of the Shadaloo syndicate, carrying out Bison’s orders to eliminate his enemies, such as Colonel William Guile and the forces of the Allied Nations.

In terms of background, the Bison Troopers are depicted as loyal soldiers who serve as the backbone of Bison's operations. They are seen performing various duties, from throwing hostages into a pit at the film's beginning to providing security at arms deals and manning the defenses of Shadaloo's headquarters. They demonstrate a fanatical devotion to their leader, often chanting his name on command. Their motivation is simple and unwavering: to serve M. Bison and aid in his mission for world domination, with no personal goals or aspirations presented beyond this collective purpose.

Within the story of the film, the Bison Troopers play a significant role as the primary opposition force. They are responsible for capturing Chun-Li and her allies and are instrumental in the final battle, where Bison orders them to fight the invading attack party from the Allied Nation. They are ultimately defeated and arrested following Bison's demise. A notable development within the game's narrative involves the character Blade, a red Bison Trooper. Blade is revealed to be an undercover operative, the brother of Guile, who infiltrated Bison's forces to gather intelligence. This twist provides a rare instance of individual characterization among the troopers, though it is exclusive to the game.

The video game expands on the concept of the Bison Troopers by introducing four distinct, playable cyborg soldiers: Blade (red), Arkane (blue), Khyber (yellow), and F7 (black). These characters were hidden fighters in the arcade version and each possesses unique abilities. The black troopers are described as leaders specializing in various forms of combat, equipped with stun rods, knives, and flame emitters. Blue troopers, who were originally human before being modified into cyborgs, have the ability to teleport and generate electricity. Red troopers are the most common type, serving as Bison's personal security; they are rigorously trained and rely primarily on rifles, though they also specialize in knife combat. Yellow troopers are the most dangerous and least common type, armed with wrist-mounted flamethrowers and an additional flame projector hidden in their mouths. For the arcade game, the four named troopers have specific powers: Blade uses knives and a stun rod, Arkane uses electrical attacks and stretching limbs, Khyber breathes fire, and F7 possesses a combination of the other three's moves. These characters were omitted when the game was ported to home consoles.

The key relationship for all Bison Troopers is with their commander, M. Bison, to whom they are completely subservient. In the film, the black troopers are ranked directly below commanders like Zangief. Their overall role is that of a faceless, expendable military force, serving as obstacles for the hero characters to overcome, and they are defined more by their collective function and color-coded abilities than by individual personalities.
