Description
The figure known as M. Bison is the supreme leader of the international crime syndicate Shadaloo. His ultimate ambition is nothing less than world domination, a goal he pursues through a combination of military force, advanced technology, and a unique, malevolent energy source. He is the primary antagonist of the Street Fighter series, a tyrannical dictator who commands absolute loyalty from his subordinates while viewing them as entirely disposable pawns.

Very little is known about Bison's past. It is believed that he was once a student of the spiritual art of Soul Power, but in his quest for greater strength, he discovered its corrupt counterpart, Psycho Power. To master this dark energy, he was forced to expel all the goodness and humanity from his own soul. This discarded virtue manifested as a separate being, a woman named Rose, who would later become one of his most persistent foes. Having purged himself of any redeeming qualities, Bison became a figure of pure, calculated evil. He is ruthless, arrogant, and possesses a god-like ego, believing that all other fighters exist only to be crushed by his power. He shows no compassion for the suffering he causes, whether it is the murder of an Interpol agent's father or the destruction of entire communities.

Bison's role in the story is primarily as the architect of the World Warrior tournaments, which he hosts to lure powerful fighters into his grasp. He seeks to eliminate his enemies, such as Chun-Li, who seeks vengeance for her father's death, and Guile, who mourns his friend Charlie Nash. However, his greatest obsession is securing a perfect new body to contain his immense Psycho Power. His original form was unable to handle the energy's strain, forcing him to create a series of replacement bodies. One such project was the creation of female assassins known as the Dolls, including Cammy, who was genetically engineered from his own DNA to serve as a potential vessel. When these efforts failed, he set his sights on the martial artist Ryu, believing that the dark power of the Satsui no Hado within Ryu would make him an ideal host.

Throughout the narrative, Bison maintains several key relationships defined by his cruelty. Beyond his vendetta with Chun-Li and Guile, he has a complex connection with Rose, who represents his lost humanity and wields the opposing Soul Power. His lieutenants, including the boxer Balrog and the claw-wielding Vega, serve him out of fear and greed, while he tolerates his right-hand man, Sagat, only as long as he remains useful. Bison's development across the series is cyclical, defined by his repeated deaths and resurrections. After his body is destroyed in the events of the Street Fighter Alpha series, his soul survives, eventually being transferred into a new, weaker body for the second World Warrior tournament. He is defeated again but returns as the mastermind behind the events of Street Fighter IV, manipulating his rogue creation, Seth, to further his own ends.

In combat, Bison is a formidable opponent who wields Psycho Power with devastating effect. This energy allows him to perform a variety of supernatural feats, including flying, teleporting, and creating illusory copies of himself. His signature techniques are the Psycho Crusher, a spinning, energy-charged charge that turns him into a projectile, and the Double Knee Press, a powerful flying kick. He also utilizes the Head Press, where he stomps on his opponent from above. His fighting style is aggressive and relentless, designed to overwhelm his enemies with raw, evil power. Bison's distinctive appearance, a red military uniform with a cap bearing the Shadaloo skull insignia, combined with his pupil-less white eyes, marks him as an iconic and menacing presence in the fighting game genre.
