Description
Corporal Giroro is a member of the Keroro Platoon, a unit of Keronian soldiers. He holds the rank of corporal in the Keron Army. His physical appearance is defined by his red body and the maroon military-style headgear he wears, which features a yellow skull emblem. Notably, unlike many of his comrades, Giroro does not have a symbol on his belly; instead, he wears a belt with a rectangular buckle diagonally across his torso. This belt is an item of great personal value. A scar is present over his left eye.

Giroro is characterized by a short temper and a perpetually grumpy disposition. He is easily frustrated and often finds himself angered by the lackadaisical attitudes of the other members of his platoon, particularly their leader, Sergeant Keroro. Unlike his comrades who have largely abandoned their mission, Giroro remains dedicated to the goal of invading Pekopon, which is the Keronian name for Earth. This dedication, however, is frequently played for comedy as he is often the victim of various mishaps, ranging from being crushed by falling objects to being used as an unwilling test subject for the platoon's inventions. Despite his gruff and bellicose exterior, he possesses an honorable and trustworthy nature. He has a hidden gentle side, exemplified by the stray cat he has taken in, which he allows to share his living space.

Giroro’s primary role within the story is as the platoon's weapons and mobile infantry expert. He maintains a vast and varied arsenal, including sniper rifles, machine guns, bazookas, and grenades, which he can summon at will. He lives in a small tent in the backyard of the Hinata residence, refusing to stay in the platoon's underground base. A significant aspect of his character is his unrequited romantic love for Natsumi Hinata, the daughter of the family whose home he lives near. He was defeated by her in his first assault on the house, and his admiration for her strength quickly developed into a crush. He keeps a photograph of her hidden in his belt buckle and often becomes a lovesick fool in her presence. This leads to jealousy towards anyone he perceives as a romantic rival for her attention, such as Mutsumi Saburo or Koyuki Azumaya.

His key relationships are central to his character development. He shares a long history with Sergeant Keroro and Lance Corporal Dororo, having known them since childhood when they trained together. While he frequently assaults Keroro in frustration over his lazy leadership, there remains a deep-seated bond between them. His relationship with Dororo is more compassionate, as he was often the one to show him kindness during their youth. He has a contentious relationship with Sergeant Major Kururu, who often uses Giroro as a guinea pig for his experiments, much to Giroro’s dismay. Giroro also has an older brother named Garuru, a lieutenant who leads his own platoon. Giroro idolized his brother as a child, but their relationship has since evolved into a sibling rivalry.

Throughout the series, Giroro experiences moments of development that add depth to his character. Flashbacks reveal that he was not always the hardened soldier he appears to be; he was once a more fearful and typical child. The scar on his face and the belt he wears are relics of a war he fought in, serving as a reminder of fallen comrades. In one notable episode, a device splits him into seven different bodies, each representing a facet of his personality. These include Giroppe, a dark, war-crazed version; Girorin, a cowardly crybaby; Girochi, a feminine housewife type; Girosama, a cheerful and laughing personality; Giroko, a poetic side; and Giropon, his overtly romantic side.

In terms of abilities, Giroro is a highly skilled guerrilla combatant and an A-class gun wielder. His arsenal is extensive and often parodies weaponry from the Gundam franchise. He is also capable of piloting mecha, including a large personal unit called the Giroro Mecha. When his anger is triggered, especially in defense of Natsumi, he can enter a combat mode where his intelligence is converted into raw battle power. Despite his military prowess, he has notable weaknesses, including a paralyzing fear of ghosts, sea cucumbers, and a severe intolerance to alcohol, with even a single drop causing him to lose consciousness.
