Description
Michiyo Ōsawa is a central character in the 1995 film Teito Monogatari Gaiden. She is a therapist associated with Ōsawa Therapy, a practice run by her father, and is secretly a descendant of the bloodline of Taira no Masakado, the powerful vengeful spirit whose revival the antagonist Yasunori Kato seeks. Michiyo is calm, perceptive, and displays an unusual lack of fear when she encounters the disturbed male nurse Jin'ya Yanase. She recognizes his violent and necrophilic tendencies but does not recoil; instead, she approaches him with a clinical detachment and attempts to guide him toward healing by bringing him to her father's therapy facility. As the story unfolds, her true lineage is revealed, and she understands that Kato intends to absorb her soul to resurrect Masakado. Embracing her inherited duty, she chooses to sacrifice herself by offering her body to Yanase to be killed, believing that her death will prevent the resurrection. Her role is crucial as both a love interest who draws Yanase into a twisted relationship and as the key to the supernatural conflict. Through her interactions, she remains composed and selfless, using her therapeutic abilities to aid others even as she faces her own fate. Her notable abilities include empathic insight and a deep knowledge of her family's spiritual legacy, which she uses to confront the threat of Kato's return.
