Description
Muku is a teenage girl residing at the Kiriko Seien orphanage, a facility secretly operated as part of the Amazon Livestock Project, where Amazons are raised as livestock for human consumption. Raised within the institution, Muku initially accepts the facility’s teachings that she and the other children exist to bring happiness to humans, and she does not question her role. However, her perspective changes when she is selected as a gift for a visiting politician, Shinsaku Sakoshima. At the restaurant where she is served as a meal, Muku witnesses a fellow orphan, Goro, being discarded as waste, which triggers a desperate will to survive. In her Squirrel Amazon form, she kills Sakoshima and the chef, then flees. Haruka Mizusawa finds her and consoles her, encouraging her to live for herself. Returning to the orphanage, Muku joins Haruka in trying to lead the other children to freedom. During the ensuing conflict with the orphanage’s director, Einosuke Mido, who transforms into Amazon Neo Alpha, Muku shields her friend Haichi and is mortally wounded. With her life fading, she offers her own body to Haruka, telling him to eat her so he can gain the strength to protect the remaining children. Haruka reluctantly does so, consuming her Amazon cells to heal his own fatal injuries. Muku’s final act is one of selfless sacrifice, choosing to become part of Haruka’s life force so he can continue fighting. Her abilities as the Squirrel Amazon grant her enhanced agility, claws, and a feral combat style suited to her small, nimble form. Throughout the story, Muku evolves from a passive, conditioned victim into an active rebel who reclaims her will to live and ultimately gives her life for others. Her key relationships include Haruka, whom she comes to trust as a protector; Mizuki, whose wounds she tends when they first arrive at the orphanage; and Haichi, a fellow orphan she tries to save. Her development underscores the film’s themes of agency, the value of life, and the cost of survival.
