Description
Ken Shinozuka is a character from the anime Baban Baban Ban Vampire. He is a high school senior attending the same school as Rihito Tatsuno and serves as the charismatic and undisputed leader of the school's delinquent students. Standing at an imposing 191 centimeters tall and weighing 86 kilograms, his physical presence is as striking as his unconventional fashion choice. Instead of typical piercings, he wears plus-shaped screws in his ears, a distinctive look that has earned him the nickname Franken, a reference to the famous monster.

Despite his intimidating appearance and reputation as a troublemaker, Ken's personality is defined by a strong sense of justice, loyalty, and surprising innocence. He is passionate and deeply values his friends, acting as a protective figure for those he considers part of his circle. Underneath his rough exterior lies a sincere and caring individual who leads with integrity. He maintains a notably healthy lifestyle, strictly avoiding alcohol and cigarettes, which sets him apart from many of his peers. In matters of romance, he displays an endearing awkwardness and is, in fact, still a virgin.

Ken is also the older brother of Aoi Shinozuka. Having repeated two grades, he is nearly twenty years old, which contributes to his aura of experience and maturity among the younger students. His role in the story is heavily tied to his protective nature. He acts as a self-appointed guardian and older brother figure to Rihito Tatsuno, often serving as his school bodyguard. He is usually seen in the company of his friend Umetarō Sakamoto, forming a familiar duo within the school.

Ken's primary motivation often stems from a desire to protect his friends and seek justice on their behalf. This is most clearly demonstrated in his confrontation with Ranmaru Mori. After one of his junior members is injured in an encounter with Ranmaru, Ken challenges him to a fight to avenge his friend. The confrontation ends in a decisive defeat for Ken, as the difference in their power proves insurmountable. However, this experience does not breed resentment. Instead, Ken develops a deep admiration for Ranmaru's strength and character, and begins to call him older brother, becoming a loyal follower.

His abilities are primarily physical. He possesses exceptional, almost superhuman strength for a high school student, capable of kicking a door and leaving a hole in it. This raw power, combined with his imposing stature, commands respect among his peers and allows him to maintain order within the group of delinquents. As the story progresses, his initial role as a minor antagonist who attacks Rihito evolves into that of a steadfast ally. He becomes a key part of the support network around the main characters, strengthened by his loyalty to Ranmaru and his protective feelings for his sister and Rihito. He is perceptive enough to suspect Rihito's feelings for Aoi, and he openly encourages their relationship, thinking they make a good couple.
