Description
Brogy, also known as Brogy the Red Ogre, is a giant from the warrior nation of Elbaf and one of the two former captains of the renowned Giant Warrior Pirates. At over 160 years old, his history is deeply intertwined with that of his best friend and fellow captain, Dorry the Blue Ogre. More than a century ago, the pair were among the most feared pirates on the seas, their power so great that they each earned a bounty of 100,000,000 Berries. Their legendary partnership came to an abrupt halt over a seemingly trivial dispute: a little girl asked which of the two had caught a bigger Sea King. Unable to agree, the two giants adhered to the ancient warrior traditions of Elbaf and began a formal duel on the island of Little Garden to determine who was superior.

In terms of personality, Brogy is a good-natured and honorable giant, though his immense pride is a defining trait. He follows the fighting customs of his homeland with absolute seriousness, believing that a warrior's honor must be upheld even in the face of severe injury. Despite being locked in a life-or-death battle for a century, he shares a profound and unbreakable bond of respect and friendship with Dorry. This paradox is central to his character; he fights with all his might to win, but the thought of a dishonorable victory brings him no joy. When the Baroque Works agent Mr. 3 interfered with their duel, Brogy was furious, as the intervention robbed his potential victory of all meaning. He is known for his distinctive laugh, a booming "Gaba! Gaba! Gaba!" Brogy is also friendly and welcoming, quickly befriending the Straw Hat Pirates when they arrived on Little Garden. He showed particular kindness to a terrified Nami and Usopp, sharing his food and stories with them. His tales of Elbaf and its warrior culture left a deep impression on Usopp, who came to dream of visiting the giants' homeland.

Brogy's primary motivation for the majority of his introduction is the duel itself. What began as an argument over a catch evolved into a sacred duty. The two giants continued their fight for one hundred years, only engaging whenever the volcano at the center of Little Garden erupted. Over countless battles, they forgot the original reason for their quarrel, but continued fighting out of respect for their shared code of honor, believing that the god of Elbaf would one day favor a victor. His role in the Little Garden Arc is that of a powerful ally to the Straw Hats. After the crew helps expose Mr. 3's treachery and saves both giants from Baroque Works, Brogy and Dorry set aside their duel to repay the favor. They used their ultimate combination attack, a fearsome flying slash named "Hakoku" or "Supreme King," to annihilate a massive Island Eater fish that was blocking the Straw Hats' escape route from the island.

Brogy's key relationships are central to his story. His most significant bond is with Dorry. They are best friends, rivals, and brothers in arms. Their competitive, respectful, and eternally stalemated relationship is often compared to that of Roronoa Zoro and Sanji. His relationship with the Straw Hat Pirates, particularly Usopp and Luffy, is one of deep friendship and gratitude. He considers them allies and was inspired by their intervention. Years later, this bond proved strong enough to bring Brogy and Dorry to their aid once more. The giants also share a close friendship with "Red-Haired" Shanks, whom they call "brother." When the pirate Eustass Kid threatened Shanks's territory, Brogy and Dorry stood with the Emperor and helped sink Kid's ship.

Brogy's character undergoes a significant development, moving from a state of stagnant, endless conflict to one of reconciliation and renewed purpose. After leaving Little Garden, he and Dorry finally ended their century-long duel. They returned to their homeland of Elbaf, reconciled their friendship, and reformed the Giant Warrior Pirates. In this new era, Brogy has become a powerful ally to the forces of the new Emperors. He reappeared during the Egghead Incident to help Luffy and his crew escape from the Navy and the Five Elders. Showing that his strength has only grown or at least remained formidable, he demonstrated new combination techniques with Dorry, such as the "Sun Shield" for defense and "Sun Saw" for attack, proving that the Giant Warrior Pirates have returned to the seas as a major force.

In terms of notable abilities, Brogy possesses the immense physical strength and durability common to all giants, but his skills are exceptional even by those standards. He wields a massive battle axe known as the Bruiser Axe and a large round shield in combat. His raw power allows him to slay the fearsome dinosaurs of Little Garden with a single stroke and easily break free from Mr. 3's steel-hard wax. Brogy's most famous technique is the "Hakoku" he performs with Dorry, a devastating beam of compressed air and warrior spirit that can destroy sea monsters and entire ships in one blow. After reforming the Giant Warrior Pirates, his bounty was reassessed and raised to 1,800,000,000 Berries, reflecting his status as a co-captain of a legendary crew and his continued relevance as a major power in the world.
