Description
Masahiko Nakamura is a detective who appears in the 2012 horror film Sadako 3D. He works alongside his partner, Detective Koiso, investigating a series of suspicious deaths linked to a cursed video circulating online. Nakamura is initially presented as a practical and observant police officer. While Koiso remains skeptical of the supernatural nature of the case, Nakamura is the first to connect the string of suicides to the video, deducing that each victim watched the footage before dying. His investigative work leads the pair to identify the artist Kiyoshi Kashiwada as the original uploader of the video.
Motivated by a sense of duty and a desire to solve the mysterious deaths, Nakamura pursues the case with determination. However, his involvement takes a dark turn when he unexpectedly commits suicide in front of his partner, an event that deeply shakes Koiso and forces him to fully confront the reality of the curse. Nakamura’s sudden death serves as a turning point in the story, underscoring the inescapable and lethal nature of the video’s power.
In terms of development, Nakamura appears only in the early to middle portion of the film. His background is not explored beyond his role as a detective. He does not possess any notable supernatural abilities; his function is that of a rational investigator who becomes a victim of the very phenomenon he sought to understand. His key relationship is with Detective Koiso, with whom he shares a professional bond. The tragedy of his demise highlights the danger posed by the cursed video and propels Koiso into a deeper search for answers.
